Eligibility

Must be one of the following persons to qualify for reimbursement of funeral and burial expenses (a person may qualify from the first day of medical eligibility through the month in which the cancellation is effective): individuals receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash; Aid to the Aged, Blind or Disabled (AABD) cash; Parent/All Kids Assist; Family Assist; AABD medical; stillborn children of mothers who qualify; decedents who have a spenddown (SPD); DOA cases (if the decedent was receiving SSI/SSA); or deceased persons who would have qualified for Assist, Moms and Babies, or AABD while alive if they had applied.

Call for information; Applications may be found at the client's local Family Community Resource Center or online (use the DHS Office Locator to find the local Family Community Resource Center)

Reimburses for funeral and burial expenses when a person's resources and all other sources of payment are less than the DHS standard payment rates. The maximum amount that DHS will pay is $1370 for a funeral and $686 for a cremation/burial.
