Homeless Outreach Program | Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha

In addition to providing food, clothing, and other personal care necessities to anyone who requests them, staff additionally provides outreach assistance, including:

- Serving as a homeless warming center on especially cold winter days and a cooling center on very hot/humid days.

- Providing the homeless with bags of ice to help them cool off, personally, as well as to help keep fresh any food items they may have.

- SSVP Omaha staff visit homeless neighbors in their camps, providing essentials like food, water, blankets, and fuel. They also help connect them to critical services, such as medical care and housing.

Homeless Youth Outreach Center | YSS

Provides a safe place for at-risk and homeless youth (ages 16-24) in the Polk County area to connect with services. Services include street outreach, drop-in services, daily meals, emergency beds, an art studio, a computer lab, and mental health counseling options. 

The center also offers connections to additional YSS supportive housing programs, such as Lighthouses, Transitional Living Program, and Rapid Re-housing. Supportive services may include educational opportunities, life skills training, financial planning, and counseling to help youth and young adults, including single mothers and their infants, achieve self-sufficiency and progress toward their goals.

Groundswell Cafe | Matthew 25

The Groundswell Cafe is a pay-it-forward eatery whose mission is to provide a place where everyone has access to fresh, healthy food, regardless of their ability to pay. Offers a simple, healthy menu featuring soups, salads, and sandwiches, with as much of the food as possible supplied by what is grown on the Cultivate Hope Urban Farm and the on-site hydroponic system. At this cafe, guests can round up their bill or make a donation to help pay for a meal for someone who can’t afford it. Those who can’t afford to pay can order and enjoy fresh healthy food at no cost.

Daily Shelter and Cooling Center | Generation Diamond Corporation

Provides daily services for homeless, low-income, and recently incarcerated individuals, including meals, showers, and a safe environment. The center assists with obtaining state identification, birth certificates, and social security applications.

Employment information and guidance are available, along with bus tickets (subject to daily availability), clothing, and opportunities for community service. Cold breakfast, lunch, and water are provided daily.

During periods of extreme weather, the center serves as a warming or cooling center, offering a heated or air-conditioned environment to protect individuals from extreme cold or heat. Water and other liquids are available to prevent dehydration.

The center is not a shelter or food bank.
