Provides limited direct pro bono representation for qualifying families statewide. Capacity is limited and determined after an initial consultation with the family. Only families with an income of 200% of federal poverty guidelines or below are eligible for direct representation.

Offers legal advice clinics to latinx immigrants. Individuals needing assistance with a legal issue can submit a request for help online with a few details on what the issue is. Once an appointment has been scheduled, individuals will have the opportunity to get free legal advice from a lawyer.

Helps those with limited income who are facing civil legal issues. Legal advice, legal coaching, and legal document assistance are available. Assists with the following cases: -Family Law (divorce, paternity, child support, custody, guardianship). -Housing (foreclosure & landlord/tenant disputes). -Consumer law (fraud, contract disputes, identity theft, debt collection). -Employment law (unlawful termination, discrimination, wage disputes). -Probate issues (asset distribution after death). -Expungement/Sealing of prior criminal records. -Human Trafficking and Immigrant victims of abuse of violent crime. Offers referrals when unable to assist with a case.

Callers are screened for eligibility, and a determination is made whether eligible callers have a legal problem that falls within the priorities. If the caller’s legal problem is eligible for review for extended services, the caller is referred to one of our five regional offices. If the callers are not eligible for referral to a regional office, attorneys provide the caller with immediate advice or quick access to other information and resources.

Provides free representation to children and youth involved in juvenile court in Polk County, Iowa. The Youth Law Center provides a free legal advice hotline for youth and professionals who work with youth throughout the State of Iowa.

Offers consultation service that provides information to the general public to determine whether an attorney is needed for their particular problem. Attorneys meet with individuals free of charge and provide referrals to legal services, a private attorney, or law enforcement. Attorneys offer advice on family law (i.e. divorce), landlord-tenant issues, lawsuits and small claims, financial problems, consumer law, traffic and criminal violations, employment, public benefits, guardianships of children, restraining orders between adults and adults and children and other areas.

Provides legal counseling and representation for the disabled and offers help with Social Security Disability/SSI claims and appeals.

Provides assistance to people with little to no income in obtaining pro bono legal assistance from area lawyers and attorneys in specialized fields while also providing compassion, empathy, and a listening ear to all who come seeking help. Through the CCLS program, the program director matches a client's legal case with an area lawyer who has agreed to represent him/her in the court of law.

CCLS provides assistance in the areas of adoption, bankruptcy, child custody and support, debt elimination, employment, environmental issues, family Law, guardianship, immigration, landlord-tenant disputes, real estate transactions, social security benefits, traffic accidents, and wills and probate.

Legal counseling is available from staff lawyers who provide information and guidance regarding legal rights, responsibilities, and suggested courses of action without representing clients in court.

The organization also offers domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy training and domestic violence intervention programs. These intervention programs utilize restorative justice classes, offender groups, and victim panels to address the impact of abuse, promote accountability for behavior related to power and control, and teach conflict resolution and healthy relationship skills.
