Youth Emergency Services

Services to runaway, homeless, near-homeless and street-dependent youth. Array of services includes street outreach, shelter, and transitional living.

- 24-hour crisis line for youth needing emergency assistance.

- Emergency services include shelter program (short-term), an Independent Living Program (ILP), and Rapid Rehousing Program (RRH). A variety of support services are provided for youth while in residence.

- Services include housing, all meals, transportation to school and scheduled appointments. Must be involved in daily residential activities including hygiene, meal preparation, scheduling activities, laundry, and facility upkeep.

Bluestem Health - Main Medical and Dental

Affordable, comprehensive primary health care especially for those with limited resources. Includes general physical exams and immunizations.

Services are provided regardless of ability to pay through a sliding fee discount program. Fees are calculated based on household size and documented annual income. All patients are eligible to apply for the sliding fee discount, even those with insurance.

Dental Clinic offers preventative dental services including: X-rays, exams, cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Pharmacy services offered to patients. Those eligible for the sliding fee program receive their medications at 30 to 50% below the retail market. Kohl's, Walgreens, Genoa, and Walmart fill all medications. Mobile Medical Clinic services, in which a van visits different locations to see patients.

HIV/STD testing provides confidential HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.

Transportation program provides a limited number of cab vouchers.

Mental health services are provided in-house through a partnership with Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, as well as being referred out to collaborating behavioral health agencies.

Prenatal care for women.

Radiology has certified x-ray technicians to provide limited x-ray services.

Medication assistance programs help uninsured and underinsured patients apply to various pharmaceutical companies. Staff complete applications for patients to obtain their medication at an affordable cost.

Translation services offered to non-English speaking patients. Languages include Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Kurdish, Burmese, Karen, and Thai.

Follow-up laboratory reports and infertility services are available, including referrals for individuals seeking to achieve pregnancy. 

Pregnancy testing is provided, and males can access certain services through this program. Additionally, the program incorporates communicable disease control measures, including tracking and preventing the spread of diseases through surveillance, reporting, and appropriate interventions such as isolation and contact tracing. Screening for sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes, and other infections, is conducted using visual examinations, blood tests, and sample analyses to ensure early diagnosis and treatment.

Also, provides childbirth education classes to prepare prospective mothers, birth partners, and family members for the labor and birth process, covering topics such as anatomy, breathing and relaxation techniques, delivery options, and postpartum care.

Additionally, resources and guidance are available to support economic self-sufficiency, including vocational evaluation, training in marketable skills, and referrals for employment opportunities tailored to those facing emotional challenges, substance abuse issues, or disabilities.
