Offers a Healthy Baby Shower for expecting mothers, hosted by ISU Extension and Outreach in Polk County and Nutrition 4 Young Children. Healthy baby showers are available in English and Spanish.
Learn about pregnancy and nutrition from an ISU Extension and Outreach health educator to give babies the best start possible. Participants will receive a backpack full of baby gifts after attending a virtual or in-person shower.

Appanoose County Public Health in conjunction with Marion County Public Health take part in the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Clinics held in Centerville. Some of the services offered are: Ages and Stages Assessments, Lead Screenings, Vision Screenings, and I-Smile Services.
Home Health Aides offer personal care, bathing, and light housekeeping to those who are elderly, have disabilities, or have chronic health conditions. Home health aide services help individuals maintain their safety and independence.
Parenting Support - Nurses, parent coaches/family support workers, social workers, and lactation consultants provide physician-directed home visits, prenatal and post-partum support, and health education services to vulnerable families living in poverty at risk of poor health, developmental, and educational outcomes.
Shelter Nursing - Serves as the primary public health provider in all Omaha and Council Bluffs homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, group maternity homes, and youth living on the street. Nursing services include health assessment, education, medication compliance, and management of chronic health conditions and mental and behavioral health. Nurses work with families to address their unique needs by coordinating community resources and accessing medical services to assist with basic healthcare needs, mental health, child safety, and substance and domestic abuse.
Provides flu and immunizations (including COVID) at community and workplace clinics.
School Health Programs - Provides essential preventative health and wellness screening, as well as physical and mental health services to help ensure the overall well-being of students and staff in Omaha area schools. Nurses often provide staff training and work with parents to personalize specific care for students with special needs.
Facilitates access to home health care and hospice services to community members who are uninsured or lack resources.
People Place offers family programming for parents of children age(s) 0-5 twice a week. Parents are welcome to bring their children and drop them off in our child care room, while they either take a break in the parent room, attend one of our guest speakers, or chat with our parent educators or other parents about child development. A nightly parenting class is also offered during the fall and spring that meets DHS requirements.
Maternal health services are available to expectant women in the state of Iowa. A coordinator connects clients to: -- Payment assistance for child birth and/or parenting classes -- Health screenings and referrals to help moms and babies be as healthy as they can be -- Oral health screenings, fluoride varnish applications and dental referrals -- Referrals to other health care or local community services -- Presumptive eligibility, assistance with applying for Medicaid -- Help in arranging for your delivery -- Social assessment and referrals -- Referrals for family planning and child health care -- Care Coordination services, including transportation and translation assistance

Family resource program to support parents in educating and nurturing their children. The program provides parents with opportunities to move toward self-sufficiency by working with other community organizations. Health and mental health services are also provided to participants.
Program helps parents better understand their child's stages of development with individualized visits in the home. The weekly visits are 90 minutes in length and are designed to meet the needs of each family. Staff will assist families in planning activities that encourage the child's growth. Social activities will be held twice monthly to provide the opportunity to interact with your child and other families.

School Based Mental Health and Outreach Services such as Outpatient Therapy at school and other locations, Child Mental Health training for school personnel, Case oriented consultation for school personnel, and Case Management Services like Healthy Start/Empowerment.
Early Childhood Mental Health Services Birth to age 5 such as Information and resources, Classroom observations, Professional training and education workshops, and Mental health assessment and treatment.
Community Services include Parent child skill building groups and Parent Education using Parents as Teachers model.
YSS offers education and support for low-income parents and expecting moms. The Nest program provides educational classes and an incentive program to help low-income parents purchase baby supplies. The Healthy Futures program offers one-on-one support to young moms including parenting skills training and screenings for child development and maternal depression.
Services include: Screenings for maternal depression, child development, and home safety; parenting education about children's development stages; and family assistance by providing referrals to appropriate resources. Special funds are also available to assist during a crisis (when available).
Early Access is a partnership between families with young children, birth to age three, and providers from the Departments of Education, Public Health, Human Services, the Child Health Specialty Clinics. Families and staff work together in identifying, coordinating and providing needed services and resources that will help the family assist their infant or toddler to grow and develop.
