The Upward Bound Program is designed to encourage participants to pursue post secondary education. It includes a six week summer program and a follow-up program during the regular school year. In the summer, students take classes designed to increase their skills and knowledge in key content areas needed for success in college. Older students may take some classes for college credit. High school credit may be earned in some circumstances. Field trips and cultural and social activities are provided. Tutoring is provided for any student and required for those earning less than a C in any academic course

The Talent Search Program is a program designed to encourage and motivate participants to pursue post secondary education. Career, financial aid, academic, and personal counseling is provided. Information on post secondary institutions, college applications, financial aid, career possibilities, course selection, ACT and SAT preparation, and study skills is available. Funds are available for tutoring and travel expenses to visit a post secondary institution. Field trips and cultural events are offered. Must be at least 12 years old and have potential for success in post secondary education

Offers a place for children (grades K-6) before and after school, as well during the summer. YSS's free, six-week summer enrichment program focuses on fun and educational activities. The YSS Teen Club is an afterschool program for teens (grades 6-8) to focus on positive development.
Helps the schools, parents, and community in an effort to prepare young people to become successful and productive citizens. The program focuses on the YMCA core values of Character, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, tied with the Six Pillars of Character Development to enhance the self confidence, motivation, and self esteem of the participants. The program is site-based and operates at different schools sites in the community. Every group at each particular site meets at different times. The program identifies at-risk youth that are potential leaders and are currently underachieving.
Offers community-based extracurricular programming for youth. Learning is through personalized, nature-focused projects, skill building classes, and experiences that foster relationships and critical thinking. Programs and educational classes are now offered year round.

Offers a free after school program for students K-6th grade enrolled in the Burlington Community School District. PiECES runs during the school year, and provides a snack, recess, and enriching lessons or activities relating to STEM, art, music, cooking, and more.

Transportation is also provided home for eligible students.

Program designed for young people in the foster care system ages 14 through 25 who are interested in getting more involved in community advocacy, leadership and skill building, and social events.

Babysitting Instruction

Provides an educationally based after-school/out-of-school programs for students grades K-12 focused on increasing math and reading proficiency, increasing school attendance, as well as decreasing suspensions (in and out of school) and system involvement. This is accomplished through literacy/reading and math classes, individualized homework assistance, career exploration and planning, plus one-to-one and group tutoring sessions. Students are provided instruction by certified teachers, as well as enrichment activities and other social and emotional supports by academic intervention specialists.

Provides collaborative leadership and fundraising for health and human service programs assisting Jasper County, Iowa, residents. The grant cycle begins each October and funding is awarded in the following March. Full details are available at untiedwayofjaspercounty.org
