HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM | GREATER DES MOINES HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Qualified families apply for partnership with Habitat based on three criteria: need for housing, ability to pay, and willingness to partner. Through the program, participants receive financial and homeowner education, one-on-one guidance through the process, and complete program requirements. After completing program requirements, families purchase their home with an affordable mortgage.

Application process

Prospective applicant must complete and submit an interest form, prospective applicants can access the interest form in one of the following three ways: - Complete the form online at gdmhabitat.org/apply - Call the office and complete the form over the phone with a staff member's help - Stop by the office and complete the form with a staff member's help

Eligibility

Families must earn between roughly 30 and 80 percent of area median income, depending on their family size, have a need for affordable housing (inadequate space for family size, unsafe conditions, etc.), and be willing to partner with Habitat through the completion of sweat equity hours and purchasing their home, other qualifications apply
