COUNTY AUDITOR | WINNESHIEK COUNTY AUDITOR
The County Auditor's duties include: Preparations of the county budget; Computes the tax levies and prepares the tax books for the county Treasurer; Compiles and computes all tax credits, including homestead, agricultural land credits and family farm tax credit and makes reports on same; Acts as clerk of the board of Supervisors and is custodian of the courthouse and grounds in the absence of the board of Supervisors; Prepares all county payrolls and withholding reports and keeps records of the same; Files and records all claims against the county and issues warrants for all claims allowed by the board; Keeps and records bonds and reports of county officers, township clerks, and trustees; Keeps plat books showing names and owners of all lands and town lots in the county; Enters all real estate deeds in plat and transfer books before same as recorded; Makes reports to State Auditor, Secretary of State, State highway Commission, State Comptroller, and State Revenue department; Assesses property omitted by Assessor and board of review (requires approval of board of Supervisors); Prepares and publishes financial report at the end of the year; and Accepts liquor and beer applications and issues cigarette permits to applicants for the unincorporated area of the county.
