HOMELESS PREVENTION RENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM | CHAMPAIGN COUNTY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION

Provides rent assistance to Champaign County households at risk for homelessness due to a temporary hardship. Also provides information and referral to community resources, as well as housing counseling.

Application process

Applications may be completed on website or picked up in person; Applications received from individuals who live within the city of Urbana may be sent to Cunningham Township, and applications received from individuals who live within the city of Champaign my be sent to the City of Champaign Township, depending on the which agency has jurisdiction to provide rental assistance

Eligibility

Open to residents of Champaign County; Applicant must have a verifiable source of recurring income; Applicant's rent cannot exceed half of their household monthly gross income, unless they receive a fixed income as their only source; Applicant must have a verifiable, temporary, cause of hardship beyond their control; Applicant household income must be at or under 200% of the federal poverty guideline; Applicant has not received rent assistance from a program partner (Champaign County Regional Planning Commission, City of Champaign Township, nor Cunningham Township) in the past 2 years
