Visit any county office in person; may renew online in some cases

Fee

Up to $29 for a card valid for 5 years; state ID cards for voting purposes issued free of charge; Effective July 1, 2024 all ID cards issued to U.S. citizens are free of charge

Required documents

Proof of US Citizenship, two documents containing proof of address in Nebraska, and proof of valid Social Security number; see website for acceptable items - note that individuals may request a no-fee certified copy of a birth record if the applicant does not have a current Nebraska driver license or state identification card for the purpose of voting; see Vital Records for information

Eligibility

Open to any resident; cannot hold an operator license (driver license) and a state identification card at the same time
