Recorder's Office | Polk County Iowa Offices

Maintains and provides access to official documents, including real estate records (mortgages, deeds, contracts, assignments, releases, plats, surveys, and easements), articles of incorporation, partnerships, state and federal tax liens, military records, and vital records such as birth, divorce, and death certificates (Polk County only). Issues and maintains marriage licenses, ATV, boat, and snowmobile licenses/renewals, and serves as a Passport acceptance facility with photo services. 

Offers military records for tax exemptions and benefits. Additionally, issues public health permits to certify compliance with public health laws for various facilities and institutions.
