STATE SERVICE VETERAN SERVICES | NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS
Interviews military veterans, their spouses, and dependents to establish tentative eligibility for veterans' benefits provided by federal and state laws.
Advises applicants of benefits available.
Represents claimants before the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) and assists them in the completion of application forms and transmitting the applications with the supporting data to the proper federal or state agency for processing.
State service officers are recognized representatives for the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs, Ex-POWs, The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), Vietnam Veterans of America, the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, and Am-Vets, and are authorized to accept Power of Attorneys from claimants on behalf of the organizations.
