Tax Preparation Assistance is being offered starting Feb 1, 2024 through the Delaware, Dubuque, and Jackson HACAP offices. Tax help is for those at or below $54,000.
Dubuque County Location (Feb 1-Apr 12, 2024):
Drop off only, no appointment required - Stop by the HACAP office Mon-Fri 8 am-4:30 pm to pick up the following to complete at home: Intake form 13614-C, drop off consent form and tax envelope. Complete the forms in the envelope, write your name and phone number on the provided tax envelope ***(include intake form, drop off consent form, last years tax return, copies of ID and SSN and all tax documents)***, place envelope and all information in the drop box, wait for Tax Site to call and tell you that your return is ready to be picked up (approximately 2 weeks)
Delaware County Location (Feb 1-Mar 15, 2024):
Appointment required, drop off only - call 563-927-4629 to schedule an appointment.
Jackson County Location (Feb 1-Apr 12, 2024):
Appointment required, drop off only - call 563-652-5197 ext. 2202 to schedule an appointment.
Those looking to get their taxes done MUST have a copy of their taxes from last year. Transcripts for last years taxes can be obtained for FREE by either visiting the website, IRS.gov, or by calling (800) 908-9946, turn around time is usually less than a week. A copy of your taxes will cost $50 and takes up to 6 weeks to receive. If you request online you will receive access immediately to print.
For people claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, the IRS WILL NOT PROCESS until February 15th in an effort to decrease tax fraud nationwide.

Pick up and fill out a tax packet from the HACAP office, a copy of last year's return, W-2 (or 1098, 1099) forms, valid picture ID, SS# or ITIN letter for all listed on the return, (name, address and tax ID# for any child care provides and amounts paid), To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms
