This hospital is located within the Iowa Medical and Classification Center and is called the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital (FPH). The patients (not offenders) in this unit have not been adjudicated to serve prison sentences. They are committed to this unit due to their high risk for assaultive and/or self-injurious behavior to the point that no other providers are equipped to adequately care for them, and there are additionally a few patients who reside at the FPH who have been found, "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI)."
