EDUCATION SERVICES | PLATTE VALLEY LITERACY ASSOCIATION
GED classes help adult students improve reading, math, science, and/or social studies knowledge. The ultimate goal is for students to pass the GED test and earn the equivalent of a high school diploma.
Citizenship classes help students prepare for the naturalization interview, as well as the 100 questions used for the civics portion of the naturalization test to become a U.S. citizen. Classes are two hours long and meet two times per week. Students can choose from morning or evening classes. Students can start at any time during the year and continue for as long as needed until they have the knowledge and confidence to pass the citizenship test. Classes are taught entirely in English; students must have a basic understanding of English to attend.
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes help students learn the English language through conversation, writing, and listening. Classes also include some instruction in basic career readiness subjects.
