SKILLED LABOR/TRADES CAREER MENTORING PROGRAM | NEBRASKA CENTER FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION
Assists justice-involved individuals in finding a career in skilled labor and trades.
The process starts with establishing a participant's core foundations to include obtaining personal documents, creating a viable transportation plan, employment plan matching their career objectives, and a professional resume. Mentors provide one-on-one job coaching, self and skill development and employment retention services. Assist with transportation, work supplies, hygiene needs, tutors, financial literacy, bank accounts, and in obtaining industry recognized certificates. Will have opportunity to attend job site tours, Union Hall tours, trade seminars, trade workshops and apprenticeship prep classes.

Individuals must meet one of the following: Current inmate at Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, on Parole, on Felony Probation/Post-Release Supervision, discharged from one of the above in the last 18 months, current or former gang involvement
