General Assistance | Johnson County Offices

Provides short term, emergency assistance to residents of Johnson County. Assistance includes rent, lot rent based on household size and income, utilities up to $200 (gas, electric, water), non-food and emergency food vouchers. Assistance is possible up to 3 months in a 12 month period. A new application must be submitted each month assistance is needed. Rent assistance will not be used to supplements Section 8 Housing Assistance or other federally subsidized units. Veterans are referred to Johnson County Veterans Affairs. If not currently employed, all adult members of the household must be actively seeking employment.
