Provides assistance for past-due rent payments, up to three months of future payments, past-due renter-paid utility payments, and past-due internet payments. Those who rent their primary home in Nebraska (outside of Douglas and Lancaster counties), meet the income requirements, and were financially impacted during or as a direct or indirect result of the COVID-19 pandemic, may be eligible to receive assistance.

Applicants must be renting a residential property with a valid lease.

The Nebraska Emergency Rental Assistance (Nebraska ERA) program was authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to assist eligible renter households with rent, utility payments, and housing stability services.

Renters may initiate their application and identify their landlord, who will then need to complete their portion of the application. Landlords with a tenant who has applied for assistance may login to complete their section of the application. For landlords that have initiated an application, their renter(s) will still need to create an account and complete their application.

The Nebraska ERA program provides assistance to renter households in rural/non metro Nebraska communities outside of Lancaster and Douglas Counties.
