Provides city contractors to investigate reports of animal cruelty and neglect, animal bites, injured animals, stray animals & complaints of barking dogs and pick-up of deceased animals. Impounded animals are taken to the ARL Animal Services. Needs to be within the City of Des Moines for animal services. Outside the city limits, must contact local law enforcement agency.

BRANCH OFFICES: Polk County Sheriff's Office handles animal control for the unincorporated areas of Polk County 286-3333. After hours a Police Officer may respond to an animal incident.
