Eligibility

To vote in Iowa, you must be registered to vote, to qualify to register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, an Iowa resident, and be at least 17 years old, a person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before election day, in the case of primary elections, a person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before the corresponding regular election

Description

Oversees the administration of election laws and rules, ensuring the integrity of elections across the state. The office collaborates with all 99 county auditors and local election officials, manages the statewide voter registration system, trains election officials, and provides voter registration and education services. It facilitates the filing of nomination petitions for candidates seeking statewide, federal, legislative, and certain judicial offices. Additionally, the office supports absentee voting by arranging participation for eligible voters who are unable to appear at polling locations due to illness, military service, or other circumstances.
