A discrimination charge can be initiated by calling, writing or appearing in person at the Department’s Chicago or Springfield office within two years of the date the alleged discrimination took place in all cases except housing discrimination (for which there is a one-year filing deadline), persons seeking to file a charge of discrimination or harassment may submit a Complainant Information Sheet, which may be be found on the website
