SASS (SCREENING, ASSESSMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES) | ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTHCARE AND FAMILY SERVICES

SASS provides the following services for children and youth:

-- Crisis intervention.

-- Short-term stabilization where a child is at risk of self-harm, or harming others.

-- Individual and family psychotherapy/counseling.

-- Mental health assessment.

-- Case management and resource linkage assistance.

-- Psychiatric services.

Eligibility

Open to children/adolescents under age 21 who are currently enrolled in a medical program through the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, including those enrolled in Medicaid Managed Care Organizations; Also includes: -- Children/adolescents under the guardianship of DCFS while already hospitalized for psychiatric reasons -- Children/adolescents enrolled in a medical program from the Department of Public Aid -- Children/adolescents under 18 being considered for public-funded psychiatric hospitalization (Uninsured/Underinsured)
