Offers the following services to Veterans:
GENERAL MEDICAL AND SURGICAL provides an extensive range of Medical and Surgical services to veterans in central Iowa. Both inpatient and outpatient treatment is provided. Outpatient treatment is provided for most medical and surgical conditions. The Medical Center serves as an entry point to the VA Medical Care System where highly specialized medical treatment is required. Hospital admission for acute psychiatric conditions are generally referred to the VA Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa.
ALCOHOL DETOXIFICATION UNIT (DETOX) offers inpatient medical detoxification treatment. Assessment and referral for continuing primary alcohol dependency treatment.
OUTPATIENT ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE DEPENDENCY TREATMENT PROGRAM provides Assessment, Evaluation, and Treatment for substance abuse issues.
MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC offers individual, group, couples, and family therapy; provides Psychiatric evaluation and prescription of medication; assessment of need for hospitalization; relaxation and stress management therapies; assistance in social and and financial emergencies; Psychological testing; support and guidance through emotional crisis situations.
DOMICILLIARY CARE FOR HOMELESS VETERANS provides transitional housing in a 4 phase clinical treatment program aimed at the rehabilitation of homeless veterans who are eligible for VA medical benefits and who meet the clinical and eligibility requirements of the program.
VISUAL IMPAIRMENT SERVICES includes specialty programs for blind and visually impaired veterans; including low vision and blind rehabilitation.
MEDICAL FOSTER CARE PROGRAM is an affordable alternative to long-term nursing home care, which includes one-on-one personal attention and care in a family setting with flexible daily routines, choices and stability. This is available to dependent, frail or chronically ill Veterans who cannot live independently due to physical or emotional limitations. Care includes: appropriate 24-hour supervision, medication management, and assistance with daily tasks. The MFH Care Team is available to provide guidance, training and assistance to the caregiver; caregivers are local individuals with appropriate training and Call Jan O'Briant at 515-699-5925 or 1-800-294-8387 ext. 5925.
