UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR services include: NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD administers the nation's principal labor law designed to protect the rights of employees, in the private sector and U.S. Postal Service, to engage or not to engage in union or other concerted actions. WAGE AND HOUR LAW administers and enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, commonly known as the Wage and Hour Law which establishes a minimum wage, overtime, and child labor regulations for employment in Interstate Commerce or production of goods for Interstate Commerce, and certain enterprises which have any employees so engaged in Interstate Commerce. OTHER: Also administers the Federal Wage Garnishment Law which restricts the amount of earnings which may be garnished and prohibits termination on account of a single indebtedness. Also administers the Davis-Bacon and related acts and Contract Work hours Standards Act. These acts relate to Federal or Federally Financed Construction. In addition, The Service Contracts Act provides minimum wages and fringe benefits for service employees employed by contractors having contracts with the United States. Also, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Information is furnished to employers, employees, and the general public on the provisions of these acts.
