Available once per calendar month to residents of Polk County. Persons can go to the food pantry for a three-day supply of food and other non-essential food items. (specialty ethnic foods are available). Food is distributed solely to those in need without income being a consideration.

Operates a food pantry with the following items available:

- Nonperishable/canned foods.

- Frozen meats.

- Produce.

- Bread.

- Dairy products.

One visit per household allowed once per calendar month.

Family's Helping Hand is a non profit that operates out of the Family Resource Center to assist families and bridge gaps that will directly lead to better outcomes for families. Some of the resources Family’s Helping Hand can provide are a mini food pantry including formula/baby food, clothes closet, and household and hygiene supplies. Volunteer opportunities are available. This is a participating TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food pantry. Enrollment into TEFAP is confidential and requires proof of address and identification. Individuals participating in the FoodShare, School Nutrition Program, WIC, or Senior Meals programs may participate in TEFAP without impacting their ability to qualify for those programs.

Community groups and individuals donate non-perishable food and paper products and funds to purchase perishable items that are distributed to families/individuals in emergency situations.

Provides a mini community food pantry located on the east side of the library entrance. Feel free to take items or donate non perishable items that are not expired.

Food pantry provides food for approximately one month and can access once a month throughout the year.
Provides food and hygiene products to middle and high school students in need. Distribution takes place on the last day of school each week and as indiviudal needs come up.

Offers fresh and shelf stable food available to those who's income qualifies to participate. Located at 614 Randolph in Waterloo. Enter the church from the Randolph St. entrance and follow the signs.
The Allamakee County Food Shelf provides supplemental food for people in need through a weekly food pantry. The amount of food depends on the number of people in the family. In emergency situations people may call and arrange for food outside of the weekly pantry hours. This is a participating TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food pantry. Enrollment into TEFAP is confidential and requires proof of address and identification. The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) gives out a variety of nutritious foods at no cost to Illinoisans through local food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens.

Those at =300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) are eligible to participate in TEFAP. The IDHS Maximum Gross Income for receipt of USDA food is based on household size and monthly income.

Food pantries are open every week for at least two hours (unless operating under an exemption) to serve the public. To find TEFAP times and locations, use the 'Find Food Illinois' community food map on the website. For other questions, call the Illinois TEFAP phone number.

Provides emergency housing and supportive services to homeless individuals and families. Services include case management, information and referral to community resources, education assistance, workshops, and access to food pantry.
