Renter assistance through a grant funded program. Based on available funding, meeting eligible criteria, and documentation requirements. Some assistance may be available for small amounts of rent due. Other grant sources may be able to assist for longer time periods those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Provides affordable housing and support services to those in need of help to build a new future. Offers a Transitional Living Program for up to two years to assist homeless young women and their children to achieve stability in their lives by providing them with a stable home and intensive support services. Also offers aftercare services to help families as they transition into permanent housing.

Offers permanent affordable housing and supportive services for homeless families with dependent children in which the head of household or their child has a disability. The program enables families with severe and persistent issues, such as mental illness, chronic health problems, and substance abuse to achieve long-term housing stability.

The goal is to help individuals reach their fullest potential by encouraging and mentoring them.

Supportive Housing Program is a HUD-funded transitional living program for youth ages 18-24. Youth are provided with a subsidized house/apartment and work with a case manager to reduce homelessness or unsafe living conditions and to achieve permanent housing. Supportive Housing serves both single youth as well as pregnant and/or parenting youth. Youth can remain in Supportive Housing for up to 24 months.

Permanent Housing Program is a HUD-funded program for youth ages 18-24. Youth are provided with a subsidized house/apartment and work with a case manager to reduce homelessness or unsafe living conditions and to achieve permanent housing. Permanent Housing serves youth who have a mental health and/or substance abuse diagnosis. Permanent Housing serves both single youth as well as pregnant and/or parenting youth. There is no time-limit to their participation.

Life skills training in the areas of education, employment, independent living, and parenting.

Permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless single men and single women, with a priority for veterans.

Supportive services, including case management.

Provides qualifying veterans with affordable, permanent housing by building tiny homes. The veteran must be able to pay utilities, taxes, and insurance; there is no mortgage. At 10 years and 1 day, the veteran is given the title to the home.

Housing for individuals who are defined as chronically homeless with a disabling condition are provided scattered site rental assistance and case management services.

Individuals and families are identified from the Coordinated Entry housing list.

Services include, case management, independent living skills training, financial literacy training, parent skills classes, counseling, and affordable supportive housing placement.

Offers a variety of services to address the full range of housing needs Veterans may have. Services include:

Prevention services such as Supportive Services for Veteran Families that keep Veterans from becoming homeless.

Residential services such as the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Contracted Residential Services or Grant and Per Diem programs provide temporary placement, in the form of emergency or transitional housing, for Veterans who need a place to stay right now.

Permanent housing services such as the Supportive Services for Veteran Families and HUD-VA Supportive Housing, or HUD-VASH, programs connect Veterans to affordable housing in their communities. These services come with either short or long-term rental subsidies, case management, and varying levels of wrap-around supportive services to ensure that Veterans have all the necessary resources to stay housed.

VA also has programs to assist Veterans in the criminal justice system with accessing VA services, help Veterans gain meaningful employment, or take care of their health needs through primary care tailored to the unique access barriers that Veterans experiencing homelessness face.

Dresser Court is a twenty-six unit, subsidized apartment complex that provides permanent housing with intensive on-site programs and services for people with disabilities and a history of chronic homelessness.

Homeless Shelter

Veterans Transitional Housing provides group living with supportive services for male veterans experiencing homelessness and problems with mental illness or co-occurring disorders. Veterans must be services connected and approved to reside in the program by VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care Systems. Expected stay is six months.

Veterans Permanent Housing Program is rental assistance for veterans male or female who are experiencing homelessness and problems with mental illness, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders.

Veterans Transition in Place provides scattered site housing for male or female veterans who are experiencing homelessness and problems with mental illness, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders. Upon graduation, veterans retain lease of rental.

A housing specialist works with families, who are at risk of losing custody of their children due to homelessness or near homelessness, to find safe, affordable housing, and keep the family unit intact. Supportive services are provided to help the family address the issues that brought them to this crisis and to help stabilize them before, during, and after housing placement.

Permanent supportive housing programs serving persons that are chronically homeless and have a documented disability. Program participants live in a home of their choosing in the community and pay 30% of their adjusted gross income as rent. The HOME programs pay the rent in full to the landlord/owner of the property. Participants sign a sub-lease that gives full rights, responsibilities and legal protections under Federal, state and local housing laws.

Case management is offered but not required to maintain housing. Information, referrals to community resources, individualized service planning, crisis support and intervention, budgeting and money management, credit and debt counseling, and 24-hour staff accessibility is provided.

The HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Voucher Program combines HUD Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Rental Assistance Program for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Veterans Affairs (VA) at its medical centers and in the community.

Provides housing for chronically homeless adults. This program allows for a focus on specific Chronically Homeless sub-populations in need in the community, such as women, persons with mental illness, substance abuse problems, or dual diagnosis; veterans; or those with HIV/AIDS.

Supportive housing program for families. Maximum of 6 people per family. Someone in family has to have medical diagnosis of HIV/AIDS.

Steven's Place Apartments offers permanent supportive housing. Provides eight one-bedroom apartments for single people.

Longview Place is a rehabilitated duplex that can house two, 3 person, families in which at least one member is living with HIV/AIDS.
Provides permanent supportive housing to single adults who would otherwise be without housing.

Provides low-income clients with rent and security deposit assistance to help a household maintain housing. To qualify for this program the client needs to be behind on their rent and the landlord has to have served them a legal eviction notice. The client will also be required to have some type of income (employment, social security, TANF, unemployment, etc.) to qualify for assistance. Babysitting (or some other type of working) for cash will NOT be accepted as income. A client can only be assisted every two years through this program.

Transitional Housing is designed to move homeless families from streets and shelters into temporary housing and to maximize self-sufficiency, this program is for families only and they must be homeless in order to receive assistance. Homeless means living on the street, in an emergency shelter, or a place not meant for human habitation (cars, parks, sidewalks, abandoned building, etc.) Occupancy is limited.

Supportive Housing is designed to move homeless families/individuals with documented disabilities from streets and shelters into temporary housing and to maximize self-sufficiency. Enrollment is limited based on availability.

Has 12 efficiency, 4 one-bedroom, and 3 two-bedroom units of transitional and permanent supportive housing. Provides food, shelter, clothing, supportive services, and assistance in finding employment. Prioritizes families with children. After two months of residency, applicants who demonstrate effective use of services may be approved for transitional housing up to one year.
