HCBS (HOME AND COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES) programs provide training and support to people living in shared homes in the community with opportunities for learning skills to help develop independence.(Pella/Knoxville and Indianola/Des Moines regions).

SCL (SUPPORTED COMMUNITY LIVING) program is for those people who just need someone to "drop-in" to assist them with various things. Individuals in this program can live with their families, or they can live in their own home or apartment. A Living Skills Advisor will schedule time to meet with them every week to assist them with needed tasks - budgeting, cooking, cleaning, shopping, appointments, social skills, and problem solving.

SPIRITUAL SERVICES are available to all clients.

A Residential Care Facility for persons with mental illness. Offers an assortment of services both in-house and through local community resources to adults with cognitive disabilities and behavioral issues who require licensed residential services for person with mental illness. Services are based on the individual's needs, including assessment evaluation, medication administration, crisis management, behaviors management, etc. Individuals are also given opportunities to access the community by attending a wide variety of community activities and employs a full time Activity Coordinator who directs both in-house and community activities.

Andrew Jackson Care also offers daily skill building groups such as: coping personal self-help, independent living, community living, social, money management, anger management, illness management and recovery, medication education, and recreational and leisure skill building.

Supported Living Services for Adults With Disabilities
Offers an intermediate care facility to those with an intellectual disability. Individualized program planning is offered and designed to enhance the abilities of clients to gain independence in daily living skills. There is trained staff on duty 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Individuals served within the ICF/ID program all have a primary diagnosis of intellectual disabilities, and may require a high level of support. Beyond that, the individuals have a variety of secondary diagnoses including autism, cerebral palsy, communication deficit, behavioral disorders, as well as a wide variety of medical diagnoses. Several of the individuals require the use of a wheelchair for mobility and positioning. Many of the individuals served in the ICF/ID program are non-verbal.

Services at the Day Services Center focus on senior activities, assisting individuals to develop volunteer roles in the community and meeting individualized needs.

Employment training is provided at the Day Service Center and at on-site job opportunities throughout the community.

Community living is provided to persons living in residential units operated by SCDS, to persons living with families or in their own homes.

Support is provided as necessary to meet the individual's needs and to assist them in being a participant in their community.
