Helping Services for Youth and Families offers advocacy and crisis intervention services for victims of domestic violence. Services include: A 24-hour domestic violence helpline; A 24-hour Domestic Abuse Survivor chat line, which can be reached at https://www.helpingservices.org/chat/; Short-term safe homes and connections to transitional housing services; Advocacy and counseling services; Assistance with protective orders and other court services; Accompaniment to legal and medical appointments; Child advocates and support groups for children who have been exposed to domestic violence; and Provision of basic necessities such as personal care items, clothing, gas or food cards, and comfort items for children.

Provides room and board, vocational training, spiritual guidance, alcoholism and drug abuse counseling and referral to treatment, clean, sober atmosphere in an attempt to rehabilitate clients into the mainstream. Men staying at the Door of Faith can be hired to do various jobs such as yard work, construction, cleaning out garages, etc. Will accept referrals from local courts, parolees, probationers, and treatment centers through Bethel Mission.
Provides a safe place for at-risk and homeless youth (age 16-24) to connect with services. Services include street outreach, drop-in services, daily meals, emergency beds, an art studio, computer lab and mental health counseling options.

The center can also connect youth and young adults with additional YSS supportive housing programs, such as Lighthouses, Transitional Living Program, and Rapid Re-housing.

Services to runaway, homeless, near-homeless and street-dependent youth. Array of services includes shelter, street outreach, transitional living, and maternity group home.

24-hour crisis line for youth needing emergency assistance.

Emergency services include shelter program (short-term), Transitional Living Program (TLP), and Maternity Group Home (MGH) for up to 18 months. A variety of support services are provided for youth while in residence.

Require authorization of parent or guardian within 72 hours of placement for shelter placements and housing services.

Services include housing, all meals, transportation to school and scheduled appointments. Must be involved in daily residential activities including hygiene, meal preparation, scheduling activities, laundry, and facility upkeep.

Offers transitional and supportive housing for women age 18 and older. This program includes safe housing, supportive programming, case management services, connections to mental health and substance abuse counselors, a food pantry, and aftercare services.
Curtis Center offers transitional single-room-occupancy rental units with supportive services for homeless men and women.

Offers the following services to women and women with children (these are not emergency shelter programs):

30-DAY PROGRAM for women (with or without children) offers shelter with some basic programming Case management and referral services are provided with no fees. Extensions to a 30-day stay are considered on a case by case basis. THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY SHELTER PROGRAM. Must call ahead to check on availability and to be screened for shelter programming.

LONG-TERM LIFE RECOVERY for women (with or without children) is available to clients who show that they are open, teachable with a willingness to change to do the hard work of life recovery. Women are offered an opportunity to work on their recovery and life skills for up to 24 months. Focus in on preparation to live independently while continuing to work on spiritual growth, recovery, basic life and work skills. Life recovery clients are reqired to save 75% of any income toward their transition fund.

12-month residence program for those coming out of addiction. Applications are accepted each quarter. Call for more information.

Rent Payment Assistance
Provides a women's transitional living program for women in crisis or in need of rehabilitation services. Minimum stay of 4 months with a maximum stay of two years; 3 meals and snacks provided; no alcohol or illegal drugs allowed, and random drug testing performed. Substance abuse, mental health and medical assessments are required upon arrival. Intensive Case Management provided: residents are required to find employment and maintain appointments for counseling, aftercare, and support groups. Rent does begin to accrue upon move in, at a rate of $420 per month. No deposit required.

*The Beacon is not an emergency housing program. Pre-screen required.

Support groups are open to the public, but are for women only:
1. Alcoholics Anonymous, Mondays at 7pm.
2. Alcoholics Anonymous, Wednesday at 7pm.
3. Empowerment, First Wednesday at 7 pm.
4. Narcotics Anonymous, Thursday at 7 pm.

Offers Veteran specific case managers to assist veterans in finding affordable housing, access to appropriate health care, substance abuse services, and mental health recovery services.
Transitional housing for homeless single veteran men.

Supportive services include therapy and case management.
YSS Supportive Housing programs help get young adults into safe, secure housing so they can focus on building a brighter future. These programs provide living options that center on participants achieving self-sufficiency. YSS advocates work one-on-one with the participants to create a plan to acquire safe and secure housing, stable employment, and financial stability.

Programs include:
Transitional Living Program (Ames, Boone, Marshalltown) - Single individuals ages 16-21
Rapid Rehousing (Ames, Boone, Des Moines, Marshalltown) - Single individuals ages 18-24
Lighthouse (Boone, Des Moines) - Families with parents ages 16-24
Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (Des Moines) - Single individuals or families ages 18-24 based on income

Two-year transitional house for young women with no children (may be pregnant) aging out of foster care.
Transitional and permanent housing services. Transitional housing is provided for up to 12 weeks. Permanent housing for individuals who identify as in recovery from mental health and /or substance abuse disorders.

Adult Co-occurring Disorders Residential Treatment Program offers transitional housing and residential treatment for adults 19 and over with co-occurring severe and persistent mental illness and substance dependence. Services include individual, group, and family counseling; recreational therapy; case management; and psychiatric services. Expected stay 6-8 months. Eligible clients must be homeless.

Community Transitions provides psychiatric residential rehabilitation services in a residential setting to prepare adults with serious mental illness for community living.

Touchstone provides short-term residential treatment services for adults 19 and over with substance dependence disorders. Psychiatric services available. This program is provided in collaboration with Houses of Hope. Expected stay is 45 days.

Includes a residential treatment program for survivors of sex and labor trafficking in central Iowa. In addition to housing we offer a wide range of restorative services to help survivors affect change in their lives.

Long-term program for two-parent families, single-parent families, couples of the same and opposite sex, and single cisgender or transgender women experiencing homelessness or near homelessness. Participants in the program are assigned to a Case Manager who works with the client on budgeting, connecting with services, and helping with goal setting.

Faith-based organization providing hope and restoration to those enslaved in human trafficking. The two-year, residential therapeutic program is free to survivors and includes, but is not limited to, individual and group therapy, case management, mentorship, legal services, tattoo branding removal, occupational therapy, life skills classes, and comprehensive medical care.
