Offers assistance to help individuals purchase necessary uniforms and supplies for verified employment. Assistance may also be provided for test fees for licenses or vocational certifications.

GED test fees may also be paid for individuals entering the workforce or increasing their earning potential. Assistance up to $150 is available with verified employment needs. This program will be available until funds are exhausted.

Upon approval, items will be ordered and delivered to the SCCR office for pick up or test fees will be paid directly to the vendor. No payments will be made directly to the client.

Open to those facing barriers to employment, housing, transportation, and self-sufficiency. Funds can be given out to help those in need of car repairs, car registration and insurance, rent, utilities, cell phone reactivation/additional minutes, transportation accounts through HIRTA, UpLand, or the purchase of a bike. Other financial needs to maintain employment will be reviewed by a case by case basis.

Provides assistance to directly alleviate transportation barriers that prohibit participants from obtaining or retaining employment or job training services. Eligible households will receive assistance with car repair related expenses with the inclusion of towing.

Provides transportation assistance, for up to 90 days, for low-income persons needing help to get to and from work, work training or school. Transportation is provided via bus cards or gas cards.

Can provide Uber rides for individuals that rely on public transportation and work shifts outside of public transportation hours of operation. Empowerment Opportunity Center will pay for 100% of the ride cost for the first month, 75% of the ride cost for the second month and 50% of the ride cost for the third month. This is a 90-day program.

Offers transportation to anyone in need. The transportation service will pick up the individual from home, stay with them through the appointment and bring them back home. Transportation options include (but not limited to) rides to medical appointments, job interviews, and grocery pickups. If transportation is needed, individual is encouraged to call the Ankeny Service Center to check on assistance available.

Daily shelter with a capacity for 10-15 people. Meals provided daily. Showers also available.

GDC serves low income, homeless and/or recently incarcerated individuals. Services include:

-- Assistance with employment process

*Class schedules are limited to a certain number of participants and are scheduled on certain days. Bus ticket availability will vary by day.
