LIHEAP aids qualifying low-income Iowa households (homeowners and renters) in the payment of a portion of their residential heating costs for the winter heating season, to encourage regular utility payments and promote energy awareness, and to encourage reduction of energy usage through energy efficiency and client education.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) | East Central Illinois Community Action Agency

Provides energy assistance for eligible low income families in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of eligible households, or directly to renters if the utility costs are included in their rent.

Some applicants may qualify for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), where an eligible client pays a percentage of their income, receives a monthly benefit towards their utility bill, and receives a reduction in overdue payments for every on-time payment they make by the bill due date. Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) | Sieda Community Action

LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. The application period is from October 1-April 30 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-April 30th for the rest of the households. Persons applying must meet 200% poverty guidelines.

October is a priority period reserved for elderly, disabled, families with children 5 and under, and disconnected households. The general population can apply starting November 1st.

This program is not designed to pay a household's total energy costs. The amount of the benefit is based on number in the household, the 30-day income of the household and the source of heat. This is a one-time payment to the household's energy provider.
