Employment - employment discrimination, wage claims, earned income tax credit, and taxes.

Family - adoption, custody, visitation, guardianship, domestic abuse, human trafficking and exploitation, family violence (child abuse, elder abuse, battered women/men), including assistance with restraining orders, and child support.

Health - Medicaid, Medicare, government children's health insurance programs, long term health care facilities, nursing homes, supplemental medical insurance, and hospital care.

Housing - federally subsidized housing, homeownership, real property, landlord/tenant, public housing, mobile homes, housing discrimination, foreclosures, forfeitures, and mortgage predatory lending practices.

Medical Advocacy:

Trained advocates respond to local hospitals 24-hours a day. They can accompany a survivor through the evidence collection and medical treatment process. Advocates provide support, give information about options and rights, and assist with safety planning.

Legal Advocacy:

Legal advocates can assist with navigating the civil and criminal justice process. This includes assistance in filing for Civil No Contact and Stalking No Contact Orders. They can also help individuals assert their rights as crime survivors and accompany them to meetings with officials and court hearings.

Offers specially trained legal advocates advise rights under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act, assist in obtaining Orders of Protection, provide support in court to victims in abuse-related cases, and provide referral and linkage to other social service programs. Medical advocacy is available 24 hours a day at hospital emergency rooms. Whenever a survivor arrives at the hospital for treatment, the hospital calls the hotline and an advocate is sent out to sit with the survivor. The advocate offers emotional support, provides information on sexual violence, and gives any necessary referrals.

Legal advocacy is available 24 hours a day wherever needed. Advocates can support a survivor at the police department or help a survivor with a case that is currently being prosecuted.
