Head Start provides free educational and social activities (preschool) for low income children ages three to five. Early Head Start provides free services (childcare) for children prenatal to three.

Provides comprehensive, individualized services to low-income infants and toddlers up to age 3, as well as pregnant mothers and their families living in Henry, Mercer, and Rock Island Counties, Illinois.

Head Start has preschool options for 3 and 4 year old children. Many locations partner with local schools to provide full day service, transportation, and easier transitions to Kindergarten.

Services to children ages 3-5 that have been identified through the BHASED screening to be at risk of academic failure. Families of preschool-age children are encouraged to participate in field trips, interactive family activities, and parenting workshops when available.
The Head Start program is a full day, full week preschool experience for low-income and disabled children 3-5 years old. The Head Start approach addresses the educational, health, nutrition, social, mental health and literacy needs of the children. Children participate in activities that promote motor, language, social/emotional, cognitive skills, literacy, science and math. All classrooms provide an inclusive environment for children with disabilities. Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack are provided daily through the CACFP program and Head Start partners with Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness to help children and families learn about healthy, local foods.

Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive early childhood development programs that serve children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families.

Head Start is an educational program to help prepare children for transition into kindergarten and provides health screenings and nutrients. Transportation is available at most locations. Early Head Start is specific to meet the developmental needs of infants and toddlers. Offers home-based options with a weekly visit from a teacher in the family's home along with two special days a month for activities with other families.

Early childhood education prepares children to thrive intellectually, socially, and emotionally, not only in kindergarten and elementary school but also in the years beyond.

Offers child care, preschool, before/after school, school days out, and summer programs, as well as Early Head Start.

All children six weeks to 12 years old are eligible, depending on space available; financial assistance is available to those who qualify through. Language support is available for those whose first language is not English.
