Veterans Upward Bound programs offer intensive basic skills development and short-term remedial courses for military veterans to help them successfully transition to post-secondary education.

Assists qualified individuals pursuing a career in occupations in the health-care industry such as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Direct Care Professional, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomist, EMT/Paramedic, LPN, Medical Assistant, Surgical Technician, RN and Medical Laboratory Technician. Most of the individuals served by the grant will have barriers to education and employment.

Adult education and family literacy classes are non-credit and provide a range of basic skill instruction, English as a Second Language, GED preparation, and in some cases, high school credit. Classes are informal and instruction is individualized. Classes may be held in a variety of facilities, including churches, industrial plants, schools, libraries, and housing projects.
