English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes are offered in Clinton, Muscatine, Davenport, Bettendorf, Columbus Junction, and West Liberty.

ELA classes expand English communication skills for students who are not native English speakers. Classroom, small group and computer instruction are designed to promote reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Students learn about personal communication, conducting business, work-related communication, and civic engagement.

Offers classes to empower former refugees as they overcome the language and cultural changes they face after arriving in the U.S. LSI offers accessible English classes and opportunities for participants to develop the cultural awareness and guidance they need to thrive in their new home. Registration and testing usually take 45 minutes to an hour. It is helpful if potential students bring and ID to make sure their names are spelled correctly.

English classes for New Americans interested in improving their English language skills. Courses provide instruction on conversational English and American culture with an emphasis on obtaining employment.

Refugee Employee Assistance Program (REAP) provides training, education, and career connections for refugees who have newly arrived in our community.
