Adult education and family literacy classes are non-credit and provide a range of basic skill instruction, English as a Second Language, GED preparation, and in some cases, high school credit. Classes are informal and instruction is individualized. Classes may be held in a variety of facilities, including churches, industrial plants, schools, libraries, and housing projects.

Provides literacy workshops and distributes reading materials. Partners with Silver Cross to provide reading rooms and lending libraries.

Provides volunteers to tutor adults who need help with reading skills. On occasion, volunteers do math tutoring.

Heart Literacy offers elementary aged children that need extra help with literacy are matched with a volunteer who spends 20 minutes every week reading with them.

Provides family workshops that focus on collaborative play and caregiver-child engagement through story time, fun interactive activities and caregiver language development strategies to help strengthen young children's language and literacy development.

Teaches adult students reading, writing, and math literacy skills free of charge, and regardless of age, income, background, race, or religion. Students receive free literacy education though the agency's Four Pillars of Programming: One-on-One tutoring, Group Classes, the Language and Learning Lab with access to various self-paced computer programs, and the Community Connection Center, where members of the public can gather to assist students and have conversation practice.

Offers English as a Second Language (ESL) and helps with US citizenship.

Literacy Volunteers helps adults read, write, speak, and understand English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors one to one. Each tutor and student meet for one hour a week at a public location that is convenient for them, such as public libraries. Students can also meet with tutors virtually.

The program is open entry, open exit; adults can enroll at any time and exit at any time.
