Waiver of Tuition / Veterans' Affairs through the The University of Nebraska, state colleges, and community colleges shall waive all tuition on behalf of an eligible dependent of a veteran. To be eligible the dependent must meet the following requirements: Is a resident of this state and meets the institution's requirements for establishing residency for purposes of paying instate tuition. Has a parent, stepparent or spouse who served in the armed forces of the U.S. and died of a service-connected disability; or died subsequent to discharge as a result of injury or illness sustained while a member of the armed forces; or is permanently and totally disabled as a result of military service; or while a member of the armed forces of the US is classified MIA or as a POW during armed hostilities. Discharge records of veterans who entered from and returned to Nebraska upon separation from military service, and who had requested that Nebraska receive a copy. Written requests must be notarized.

Categories
Provides financial and personal support for current and former state ward youth to attend college. Youth are eligible if they have graduated from high school or obtained a GED and meet one of the following criteria:
-- Are a state or tribal ward who is age 16 or older;
-- Were in the State or Tribe's custody on their 16th birthday and are now between the ages of 16 and 26;
-- Were in the State or Tribe's custody and received guardianship or adopted status at the age of 16 or older and have yet to reach age 26.
Youth participating in the ETV Program can continue receiving support for up to five non-consecutive years as long as they are enrolled in a post-secondary education or training program and are making satisfactory progress toward completion of that program. This is a statewide program and is provided through a contract with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
