Provides school supplies and pays school fees for children in preschool through 12th grade.

The program services the following schools: Hiawatha, Everest and Horton Schools in Brown County, KS, Highland, Riverside and Troy Schools in Doniphan County, KS, Falls City and Humbolt Schools in Richardson County, NE and Craig, Mound City and South Holt Schools in Holt County, MO.
Provides clothes, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies before the start of the school year. Program available when funding available.
The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department and other local businesses have teamed up to offer two Back to School Bash's this year:

Rollin Rec Mobile Free Back to School Bash - August 7-11, 2023, at different stops through the Rollin Rec Mobile corridor. Kids in the corridor will receive school supplies donated through various sponsors. Rollin Rec stops also include crafts, games, entertainment and free meals/snacks. Back 2 School Bash - August 4, 2023, 4:30 pm-7 pm. Advance registration is required and tickets cost $5 per child (grades K-5). Bash will be held at the Cherry Hill Aquatic Center Parking Lot and have school supplies, activities, and free food for the children from Willie Ray's Q Shack (adults can purchase meals). School Supplies are donated and given to needy students at the beginning of each school year through the Back to School Fair. Pre-registration is required, call or visit the United Way of Mahaska County to register.

School supplies are for the children of Adams County entering grades Kindergarten to 12th grade. Registration is in July, with distribution just before school starts.

School Supplies giveaway Saturday, August 3, 2024, 2 pm-4 pm, South Omaha Location.

Distribution is first come, first served. Limited supplies are available.

Back to School Bash offers free school supplies for students, grades K-12, that are in need (while supplies last).


For the 2024-25 school year, the Back to School Bash will be held at the John R. Grubb YMCA, located at 1611 11th Street, on Aug 18th, from 2 pm-5 pm. The Bash also provides entertainment such as a sports jamboree, local entertainment, barber and beauty shops and a community resource fair.

Back-To-School Physicals are provided to K-12 students in need by Des Moines University students, under the supervision of licensed clinicians. Services include physicals, dental screenings, vision testing, and immunizations (as needed). No appointment or insurance required. Vaccines will be available for eligible individuals. Translators available at the event. Free backpacks to all who attend!

Every August offers free book bags, school supplies, hamburgers, hotdogs, clothes, crafts, games, etc. Located at Redmond Park.
