K-8 elementary district and includes elementary schools (grades PK/K-4) and one middle school (grades 5-8).

School supplies may be available by contacting the school.

Free school supplies and backpacks are available to children in need via the Ramblin' Rose bus, and at the regular Effingham location. The bus travels to towns in the seven-county area to provide the supplies.

School clothing is also available from the bus, or families may choose to receive a voucher and shop for their clothing at Second Hand Rose Resale Shoppe in the Effingham Catholic Charities location.

Provides backpacks and age appropriate school supplies to children in need in Vermilion County.
Free school supplies distributed to area public schools for students who are income eligible.

Back to School Giveaway distributes backpacks filled with school supplies for Head Start -12th grade students from low income households. Free supplies for the first 1,500 kids.

GIVEAWAY LOCATION: the 15 DMARC Food Pantries around Polk County will have school supplies to hand out for the bash. Backpacks will be available at the food pantries starting Fall 2025.

Back to School Bash offers free school supplies for students, grades K-12, that are in need (while supplies last).

For the 2025-26 school year, the Back to School Bash will be held at the John R. Grubb YMCA, located at 1611 11th Street, on Aug 17th, from 2 pm-5 pm. The Bash also provides entertainment such as a sports jamboree, local entertainment, barber and beauty shops and a community resource fair.

One-day book bag giveaway event, held on Saturday, August 11th, 2025. Hours are 12 pm-5 pm.


Held at YouTurn campus (4344 North 34th Avenue) and Skinner Magnet (4304 North 33rd Street).


2,500 free book bags will be given away to K-12 students; no documentation is needed.


Other family activities are offered at the event.

Provide to children who are in foster care or who have been adopted from foster care. It provides school necessities for back-to-school such as backpacks and school supplies for the children. This program also provides back-to-school supplies to children year-round who have unexpectedly entered the foster care system. Children placed in foster care outside of the event may email agency to request school supplies.

Limited financial aid for emergency situations including utility deposits, rent, prescription medications, glasses, clothing, school supplies, holiday assistance, transportation, birth certificate retrieval, Iowa identification, books for GED testing, etc.

Provides backpacks with essential school supplies to families facing financial challenges with children attending a school in D303.

Offers back-to-school goods, including a backpack, school supplies, and a set of clothing for school aged children.

Collaborates with the public school system and parents to encourage student academic achievement and create cultural awareness within the community. Generally, funds are utilized to pay for the Coordinator's services, purchase basic school supplies, supplement parent-cost items, and to cover costs for the year-end banquet recognizing seniors and the achievements of all K-12 students in the area. The program is open to all Native American students who are residents of Madison County and can provide proof of enrollment with a tribe.

Offers school supplies for the children of Adams County entering grades K-12. Registration is in July, with distribution just before school starts.
