Promotes environmental and personal health through health promotion, disease detection, disease prevention, education and regulation. In cooperation with community resources, assists the community and the citizens to assume responsibility for their individual health and the health of the community. This is accomplished through assessment of the health status of the community, policy development and leadership, and assurance that high-quality services are available and accessible to all persons. LLCHD works with city, county, and state government to encourage policies and regulations which promote and protect public health. Divisions include Director's Office, Animal Control, Dental Health and Nutrition Services, Environmental Public Health, Health Promotion and Outreach, Community Health Services, and Health Data and Evaluation.
Epidemiological Services provides leadership in public health assessment; collects, analyzes and disseminates information about community health status; facilitates community health planning and policy development; coordinates epidemiologic response; and provides public health programs and related community initiatives with epidemiologic support for program evaluation, planning and communication needs. The GIS component provides maps to analyze relationships in spatial data to identify high-risk areas.
Resource Information Management serves as a supportive, collaborative partner in a number of community activities.
Ambient Air Quality provides continuous monitoring of Carbon Monoxide (CO), seasonal monitoring of Ozone, and periodical testing for particulate matter (PM2.5) levels in Lincoln and Lancaster County, as required by federal law to assure that air pollution levels do not exceed health-based standards.
Indoor Air Quality and Occupational Health assesses the air quality in businesses, institutions and homes, and recommends methods to improve the indoor air quality and reduce occupational health risks. Staff provide technical assistance and on-site review of mold problems and screening measurements for common indoor air contaminants, such as carbon monoxide and toxic chemicals.
Offers public health services to the communities in Jackson County. Services include immunizations, public health nursing and home health nursing, childhood lead poisoning testing, TB medication administration, communicable diseases reporting, foot care clinics, hospice care, hospice house, Family Connects and Bright Beginnings. Can also help families sign up for dental care services through the i-Smile program. Also provides information about communicable diseases.

Public health nursing offers immunization clinics, childhood dental screenings, childhood fluoride varnishes, maternal health education and services, health promotion visits (in-home safety evaluation, well-baby checks, breastfeeding assistance), emergency preparedness, community coalition representation, referral source for community based services, disease prevention activities, and community health education projects.
Offers public health services to the Clarke County communities. Services include home care, health care programs for women and children, general physicals, immunizations, mental health administration, early childhood development, and environmental health services.
