Free 4-line, 28 cell slate and a round or saddle stylus to any blind or low vision person needing one.  Individuals can request a free slate and stylus once per year.

May provide for modifications to the home and/or vehicle that directly address a person's medical health or are necessary to provide for the medical needs, welfare and safety of the individual and to increase or maintain independence.

Provides low-income individuals who are not eligible for eye exams, glasses, hearing tests, or hearing aids through other public benefit sources can apply for those services through their local club.

Used Eyeglasses Collection. Eyeglasses collected for distribution and reuse in poverty areas worldwide.

Diabetic Eye Screening, Travels the state to give free, basic screenings to adults with diabetes and adults over 55 years of age to detect diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.

Mobile Hearing Screening Unit that travels the state to give free screenings to adults, detect possible hearing loss, and educate the public.

Used Hearing Aid Bank provides reconditioned hearing aids to persons who cannot afford them.

- Ray and Kathy LaHood Center for Cerebral Palsy: Variety of diagnoses that impact movement and motor development, including but not limited to cerebral palsy, hypotonia, developmental delays, and genetic disorders. May assess the child's range of motion, gait pattern, orthotics, and other assistive technology equipment, review the child and family's needs, and work with the family and physician to establish a plan of care.

- Orthotics Clinic: Prescription for custom-fitted orthotics/braces to provide stability and support for proper positioning of the feet and ankles during standing, walking, and other functional activities.

Equipment available includes seating/positioning devices, bathing/toileting equipment, standing devices, wheeled mobility, and electronic aids to daily living. Evaluations and fittings provided.

Specific programs include:

- "Amtryke" program provides adapted tricycles.

- "iCan Bike" program teaches children how to ride a bicycle.

- Augmentative/Alternative Communication uses high-tech devices and low-tech strategies to facilitate communication and speech development.

Provides medical equipment such a walkers, wheelchairs, stool risers, etc. to those in need. Equipment is loaned out for a maximum of three months free of charge.

Provides assistive tools & devices that can help in the home and life.

Provides a directory of Lions Clubs and would refer based on where inquirer lives for possible assistance with glasses and hearing aid needs. Accepts donations of used eyeglasses for third world projects. Also accepts used hearing aids. Eye screenings for children 6 months to 48 months.

PROJECTS include an Eye Bank and donor information.

Provides assistive technology for blind or visually impaired students to use in their homes.

Makes annual award to Nebraska teacher of the blind and visually impaired.

Offers a scholarship to graduating senior high school students.

Sponsors annual Christmas Party for blind and visually impaired children.

Provides medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and other equipment as available. Donations are accepted. 

Offers a free hearing and vision screening for residents of the North Aurora community. Applications for assistance with eyeglasses and hearing aids available.

Provides a vision wellness program offering vision and low vision exams, preventive eye care, vision protection, low vision aids & technology, vision rehabilitation therapy.

Caregiver services are available to informal or family caregivers of persons over the age of 60 or to grandparents raising grandchildren.

Services can include respite care (services that give caregivers a rest), home modification, assistive devices, transportation, and financial assistance.

Referrals for hearing loss issues and programs.

Advocacy for deaf and hard of hearing individuals and assist in Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) issues to secure such services. Promotes awareness and understanding of the rights of persons with a hearing loss.

Equipment loan programs (amplified phones, TTY phone equipment, amplified headsets and two hearing aid banks). Offers telephone equipment demonstrations.

Maintains an inventory of services available to meet the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing and assist them in securing these services.

Conducts a voluntary census of deaf and hard of hearing persons in Nebraska and compile a registry.

Provides reconditioned hearing aids to persons who need these instruments and meet the age and financial guidelines.

Expands programs and services available to deaf and hard of hearing persons throughout the state. Implements new programs through collaboration with consumer groups, the governor, legislature, organizations, institutions, and agencies. Broadens the collection and dissemination of information on hearing loss and deafness.

Provides amplified phones, CapTel phones, and Braille phones to those individuals whose hearing loss can be verified by by physician.

Client assistance grants provides limited financial assistance for adaptive equipment, removing barriers in the home, and provides scholarships for special programs.

Tech Tools, a developmental technology library, provides adapted toys and devices to people of all ages with individual and physical disabilities at no cost to families and professionals. Libraries are located in Omaha, Gretna, Lincoln, Norfolk, Grand Island, Fremont, and Kearney.

Family Focus is a series of events throughout the year designed for the entire family unit bringing families facing similar challenges together and providing the opportunity to draw strength and knowledge as well as relax and socialize.
