Senior Care Options program available to older Nebraskans who are considering admission to a nursing home and may be eligible for Medicaid assistance. Clients are screened according to a standardized assessment process developed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Care Managers arrange for services, which allow older adults to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible.

Housekeeping and supportive services to include grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, transportation and personal care.

Family Caregiver Support for those caring for an aging adult or grandparents caring for a minor child. Provides information, assistance, support group, respite care, and supplemental services.

Home delivered meals are provided to homebound by reason of illness, disability or isolation. The meals meet 1/3 of the daily dietary recommended needs of adults 60 years and over and the requirements of the Older Americans Act and state and local laws.

Public benefit services, legal assistance, education, Medicare filing, and volunteer training through SHIIP.

Medicaid and All Kids provide free or low-cost health coverage to people with low incomes, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities. DHS administers the applications for Medicaid through ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility), which is the part of the DHS website where Illinois residents can apply for Medicaid, SNAP, and cash benefits.
Medicaid is available to pay for the cost of emergency services for aliens who do not meet citizenship, alien status, or social security number requirements. The emergency services must be provided in a facility such as a hospital, clinic, or office that can provide the required care after the emergency medical condition has occurred. Coverage for up to 3 days is available.

Staff provide one-on-one counseling and information about Medicare and supplemental insurance options depending on individual circumstances. Will work with individuals to help them understand the entire scope of the process, from which services are covered to what financial responsibilities may be on the client. Staff can also act as advocates when disputes arise in billing and/or services.

In addition, because Medicare alone does not cover all healthcare costs, staff can inform individuals about what insurances are available to coordinate with Medicare.

Provides education and consumer assistance designed to facilitate enrollment of county residents in the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace. People in need of assistance due to language barriers, technology disadvantages, or a lack of understanding of health insurance can arrange to meet a counselor in person to assist them.

Helps provide access to affordable health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Marketplace can be accessed through a website where individuals, families, and small businesses are able to compare health care policies and premiums and purchase comprehensive health coverage. Those who meet income guidelines will receive subsidies on a sliding scale if they obtain coverage through the marketplace.

Administers retirement, disability, survivor, and family benefits, and enrolls individuals in Medicare. Also provides Social Security Numbers.
