Maternal health services are available to expectant women in the state of Iowa. A coordinator connects clients to:
-- Payment assistance for child birth and/or parenting classes

Health education is integrated into each patient's visit. Nutrition, disease prevention and management are taught to patients individually and in groups. Educational follow-up, care coordination, management and peer education, including care for sexually transmitted diseases, latent tuberculosis, high lead levels, prenatal care, and care for chronic diseases (asthma, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and depression).

Specialist referrals for services not available at the clinic are made for all patients. Appointments for patients without insurance and/or limited income are made through Hope Medical Outreach Coalition volunteer physicians and facilities.

Services include finding health care coverage, finding a health care provider or dentists, education to promote a healthy pregnancy, evaluate emotional stress and family adjustment to pregnancy and parenting, oral health services, arranging transportation to medical and dental appointments, making doctor appointments, social support and guidance, nutrition education and home visit after delivery of the baby.

Helps to ensure the health of children, birth to 21 years of age in Appanoose, Clarke, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Marion, Monroe, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Wayne Counties. Services include help locating a doctor or dentist, finding health care coverage -Title XIX or Hawk-i, reminders for child/children medical and dental checkups, making doctor appointments, help to find community resources, health education and support, oral health services, help with payments for physical and dental exams, blood lead testing, immunizations 0-6 years, 7-18 years and adult immunizations.

Provide infrastructure building and enabling services. Infrastructure building activities include partnerships with tobacco control community, connections with Quitline, health equity, distribute information on IA maternal mortality, referrals for prenatal care (medical/dental), partnering with breastfeeding community, linking persons to breastfeeding resources, provide information to persons interested in breastfeeding, work with community of importance of safe sleep, connect families with resources for cribs, education on importance of oral health during pregnancy and working with dental/medical provides.

Other services offered include presumptive eligibility for pregnant women and medical/dental care coordination.

Healthy Pregnancy Program services may be offered to clients during WIC appointments, in their home, or at a local public health agency. Clients can receive Healthy Pregnancy Program services in addition to other programs, such as local home visiting programs. Healthy Pregnancy Program home visits are done by a nurse who can do a physical assessment and check on the baby.
Guttenberg Clinic is a Certified Rural Health Clinic offering primary and specialty care services.
