Provides a variety of services to assist Individuals with disabilities live Independently in the community. It is an individualized process where SCICIL staff and the client work together as partners to determine an Independent Living Plan to achieve the desired goals.

RAMP works with students and their families to learn the laws that protect the rights of a student with a disability, how to navigate the maze of community services, and to learn the skills required to achieve their goals.

Services include legal rights training, self-advocacy skills training, peer support, independent living skills training, transition planning guidance, educational workshops, and assistance with letter writing.

Offers classes for those with a mental illness, an intellectual disability, or other disabling conditions. Classes help clients learn and develop skills to live successfully in the community and live independently at home.
Assist youth with disabilities in transitioning from high school to adult life including preparing for employment, higher education, independent living skills training, money management, benefit assistance, and transportation training.

Assists students with disabilities with job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, counseling on post-secondary education, workplace readiness training, and self advocacy.

General Youth Employment Programs

Community-based services and support to persons of all ages with developmental disabilities.

Residential program includes staffed group homes for youth and adults, supervised apartments, and independent living arrangements in Alliance, Chadron, and Hay Springs.

Vocational training and employment services through a supervised workshop, Niobrara Enterprises, includes on-site contract work, work stations in industry, supervised employment programs, and job coaching.

Year-round educational program is available to children through contractual arrangements with the school district.

Adult leisure and recreational center for individuals who have reached retirement age. Clients are served through an alternative day program that emphasizes recreation, leisure, and maintenance of daily living skills. Alternative day services are also available for other adults whose needs do not include vocational or employment goals.

Developmental Disabilities Day Habilitation Programs
The Jail Diversion Program is offered to individuals in Jasper and Poweshiek Counties who are in contact with the criminal justice system because of a mental health or co-occurring disorder. Participation in the Jail Diversion Program is voluntary.

Program staff are able to assist with locating housing, applying for community assistance programs, locating employment, budgeting, promoting independent living skills and identifying and intervening where there are gaps in care. Staff also provide goal-related transportation.

Diversion Programs

Empowers people with disabilities to attain new skills and techniques so they are able to participate in daily living, recreational/social opportunities, and vocational/volunteering activities. Services work to assist people in mastering skills they need to live independently, like accessing public transportation, managing a personal budget, promoting self-advocacy, teaching home-making skills, utilizing community services, and obtaining assistive devices and durable medical equipment.

Independent Living Skills Instruction

Offers classes designed to address the many unique challenges that young adults face during the transition to independence, to make the transition to independence successful and foster self-sufficiency by providing valuable resources and teaching the necessary skills.

Classes are presented by members of the community and are offered on a wide range of topics.

Employment program for people who experience a disability. Assists people with disabilities prepare for, find, and keep a job. Program is voluntary and the services provided will be specific to an individual's needs.

Day Treatment for Adults With Developmental Disabilities
Everlasting Home Healthcare, L.L.C. prioritizes health, safety, personal goals, and promotes positive community interaction for individuals with disabilities. Staff work one-on-one with children and adults with intellectual disabilities to help them achieve their own goals of independence. Services may include learning how to cook, clean, go grocery shopping, be safe in their community, manage their checkbook, or communication skills.

Provides informational and educational programming targeted toward a consumer or a group of consumers with the intent to develop or increase the skills, knowledge and/or abilities required to live, work and play in the community.

Programs offered include self-advocacy and awareness, life skills training, braille training, TTY training, personal assistant information, interpreter referrals and equipment demonstration and loan.

Provides a residential training program that teaches techniques for living independently and working competitively. While learning techniques, the person gains confidence in themselves and adjusts to their vision loss in a positive way.

Training addresses a range of needs for people who are ready to accept responsibility for directing their lives. Individuals learn that they have the right and responsibility to pursue goals of self-determination and self-sufficiency.

Program participants are linked with a program staff person who will work with an individual to develop individual life goals, and to plan the steps necessary to achieve their goals. Through the process of pursuing their goals, staff also provides participants with the information and support they need to make informed choices, and to access community resources, and with education that enables participants to serve as their own advocate.

Blind Service staff provide a variety of services to individuals who are blind, visually impaired or Deaf/Blind to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency through obtaining competitive employment. Services include:

- Vocational rehabilitation.

- Provides instruction in independent living skills, communication strategies, Braille, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and health and wellness.

- Orientation and Mobility Instructors providing instruction in skills, methods, and techniques to independently travel safely and effectively in various surroundings.

- Rehabilitation Counselors and Coordinators provide a wide variety of services necessary to assist the individual in obtaining their employment outcome goal.

Provides peer support counseling, information and referral to services that help disabled individuals, skills training, advocacy for persons with disabilities and their families and disability awareness and leadership education. CICIL works with individuals in their homes or in locations convenient to the individual.

Centers for Independent Living
Supported Community Living (SCL) Program helps individuals develop skills needed to live independently. Skills developed includes: money management, household management, healthy living, and recreation/community activities. Service is tailored to each individual's goals and needs.
Instructions and opportunities to develop skills in the areas of daily living, independence, communication, interpersonal relations, utilization of community resources, recreation and leisure activities, and personal care. Physical therapy maintenance program is available to program participants on doctor's prescription.
Assists individuals in developing or maintaining life skills and community integration. Programming is coordinated on-site and in the community to enhance opportunities to learn in a variety of environments. Day Habilitation services are designed to assist young adults to successfully transition to adulthood by increasing community integration and life skills.

In Ames, Day Habilitation is only offered in the summer.
In Johnston, Day Habilitation is offered year-round.
