Congregate meals Mon-Fri at 12 pm. Reservation required by 1 pm the day before by calling the senior center.

Seward Senior Shuttle makes appointments every 15 minutes, Mon-Fri 9:30 am-3:30 pm for senior doctor appointments, grocery shopping, shopping, or to the senior center.

The RSVP of Monroe, Wapello, and Jefferson Counties is a volunteer program for individuals aged 55 and older.
Grandparent aged volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers in schools and daycare classrooms for children and youth who need extra attention. Work one-on-one or in small groups under supervision of trained professional staff at school, Head Start and daycare centers. The program offers a tax-free stipend for those who meet income guidelines, transportation reimbursement, and monthly training sessions.

Connects adult volunteers age 55+ with opportunities to engage in service to the community. Volunteers choose what fits their passions, interests, and schedules. The agency partners with the public, non-profit, and health care organizations to address needs in the areas of education, food security, independent living, financial security, disaster, and more.

Offers both individual and group opportunities for volunteering in a variety of settings that include volunteering for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), winter weatherization, transportation, food pantries, Medicare insurance counseling, and clerical assistance.

RSVP members can volunteer up to 40 hours per week at many local, public, and non-profit organizations such as, schools, food pantries, libraries, hospitals. Membership benefits include (but are not limited to), mileage reimbursement, Supplemental auto insurance, Volunteer recognition events.

Volunteer opportunities for individuals for the benefit of frail older persons with special needs. Matches volunteers with a frail older person. The volunteer can then provide such assistance as companionship, respite for a caregiver, escort and transportation, shopping assistance, letter writing, reading, or other chores which the older person is in need of and the volunteer is capable and willing to provide.

Volunteers also volunteer for Public Health emergencies and with the Story County Sheriff's Office to staff a Tip Hotline for missing or abducted persons cases.

Projects put volunteers' skills and talents to good use while providing a social network of like-minded peers. Opportunities include reading with and mentoring pre-school and elementary school aged children, assisting and staffing free tax sites, providing needed transportation to seniors, "one & done" projects and much more.

RSVP volunteers serve in a diverse range of nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and faith-based groups. Volunteers perform a variety of valuable services such as mentor at-risk youth, organize neighborhood watch programs, teach English to immigrants, and lend their business skills to community groups to provide critical social services.

Other volunteer opportunities are available at Senior Services Associates, including Elgin & South Elgin Neighbor to Neighbor Program, Long-Term Care Volunteer Ombudsman Program, Senior Companion Program, Senior Home Repair Assistance Program, Senior Medicare Patrol Projects, and the Transportation Program.
