Grandparent aged volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers in schools and daycare classrooms for children and youth who need extra attention. Work one-on-one or in small groups under supervision of trained professional staff at school, Head Start and daycare centers. The program offers a tax-free stipend for those who meet income guidelines, transportation reimbursement, and monthly training sessions.

Provides meaningful volunteer opportunities for those in the lower income range who are 55 and older. The Foster Grandparents program offers supportive person-to-person services to at-risk children with exceptional needs in reading, math, spelling, art, and other constructive projects.

Northeast Iowa RSVP Program offers free volunteer placement in Allamakee, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties. Volunteers may choose where they would like to volunteer and how much time they want to devote to volunteering. Possible volunteer opportunities include tutoring youth, leading activities, assisting with the food pantry, visiting nursing home residents, and performing office duties. Accommodations are made for seasonal volunteering.

Volunteers also volunteer for Public Health emergencies and with the Story County Sheriff's Office to staff a Tip Hotline for missing or abducted persons cases.
