State Disability provides aid to needy persons who have a disability expected to last for at least six months, but less than the 12 months required to be eligible for the federal Supplemental Security Income Program.

To qualify, the individual must meet certain financial and residential criteria, and not be eligible for any other state or federal assistance programs.

The fund is supported solely by a special tax on employers. Unemployment claims are filed online at NEworks.nebraska.gov.
