The Interim Assistance Reimbursement (IAR) Program provide ongoing assistance for those applying for Social Security Disability (SSDI) benefits through the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program of the Social Security Administration. An eligible applicant may receive monthly assistance not to exceed the current General Assistance benefits per month for the duration of eligibility. Upon approval of SSI benefits, Social Security will reimburse Johnson County the total amount that the client received in benefits from the IAR Program.

Emergency Assistance may be granted to alleviate a life-threatening circumstance or to assist in attaining self-sufficiency. Funds are intended to assist in emergency situations, such as a disconnection notice on a utility bill, a letter of pending eviction, or an eviction notice.

If the amount needed to alleviate the emergency exceeds the payment amount adopted by the Township, the Township may not pay until the client comes up with the difference. The cooperation of several agencies may be needed to alleviate the problem.
