Provides standard and emergency assistance to Air Force and Space Force families when unexpected financial emergencies arise with no-interest loans and grants. The programs are intended to help meet immediate financial emergency needs and help make a positive step toward a lasting financial solution. Assistance many be in the form of loans or grants.

Assistance programs may help with emergency assistance for rent or utilities, medical or dental care costs, funeral expenses, vehicle expenses (repair, payment, insurance, gas, etc.), pet medical care or transportation to/from an overseas assignment, food, personal hygiene items, child care expenses, and more.

Offers crime victim and support services to victims of gun violence and their families, including:

- Crisis Response: Crisis Response services are available to every family in the aftermath of gun violence. This includes mental health first-aid, practical needs of the victim and family, liaise with law enforcement, engage in interactive safety planning, and address any other emerging urgent needs.

- Funeral Expense Assistance: For deaths by gun violence, our specialists provide information and rights assistance and expense assistance for funeral arrangements.

- Legal & Medical Advocacy: Case Manager will ensure you are supported and informed during the aftermath. This includes: getting case updates from the police department, attending court alongside individuals or families, attending doctors appointments or hearings, etc.

- Government Aid Assistance: Case Manager can assist in necessary applications for Medicaid benefits.

- Support Groups: Offered for parents that have lost someone to gun violence, for teens that have been affected by gun violence, for adults that have been affected by gun violence, for victims of gun violence, and for our forgiveness campaign.

Assists the families of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have passed away by lifting the economic burden and ensuring a proper end-of-life ceremony.

Assists Ringgold County honorably discharged veterans, their wives, widows, and dependent children. Services include help for basic necessities such as rent or house payments, utilities and food. Assistance may also be provided for glasses and funeral expenses.

APPLICATIONS/ADMISSIONS into Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown for disabled veterans and/or spouse.

Provides rent, utility, or medication assistance. Does not assist with past due rent/utilities or rent/utility deposits. Does not assist anyone eligible or receiving FIP. Repayment agreement is required.

Interim Disability Program assists adults who are 100% disabled as deemed by their doctor and have zero income and resources in the household. All members of the household must meet requirements to qualify for this program.

Back to Work program provides assistance for up to 3 consecutive months not to exceed a fixed limit for a 1 month period. Clients must complete 40 volunteer hours and submit 8 job applications per month.

One-Time Needy Assistance Program provides assistance once within a Fiscal Year with the amount of assistance not to exceed a fixed limit; clients must have a plan to pay future bills.

Provides a Burial Assistance Program; approved person must have been previously residing in Pottawattamie County but considered homeless, i.e. indigent, transient.

The General Assistance Program is to be considered the agency of last resort; all callers will be directed to contact other assistance agencies prior to funding consideration.

Provides short-term monetary help to Dubuque County very low income residents in financial crisis.

Persons interested in rent or utility assistance should first contact ECIA (East Central intergovernmental Association) at 1-833-587-8322 before completing a General Assistance application. ECIA is the Coordinated Entry agency in Dubuque County for persons in need of rent or utility assistance, and will assist in directing persons to assistance resources.

Applications for Dubuque County General Assistance rent or utility assistance program must come through a referral from Coordinated Entry partner agencies.

Persons interested in burial assistance should contact the Dubuque County Veterans Affairs office at (563) 589-7840.
