Offers support services to individuals to assist them in remaining in their home. Volunteers assist in a variety of ways, including transportation to and from the grocery store, doctor appointments, pharmacy pickups, library pickups, etc. to simple handyman repairs and work (if volunteers are available for the handyman work). Also offers companionship to those in need of friendly visiting.

Provides companion care services such as conversation, participation in daily living activities, supervision to reduce household safety risks, transportation assistance for appointments and errands, and daily routine oversight with guidance.

Assists individuals and their families with homemaker services. Homemaker services can include friendly visiting, transportation and escort, shopping and errand running, minor home and yard maintenance, letter writing and reading, and respite.

Volunteer opportunities for individuals for the benefit of frail older persons with special needs.  Matches volunteers with a frail older person.  The volunteer can then provide such assistance as companionship, respite for a caregiver, escort and transportation, shopping assistance, letter writing, reading, or other chores which the older person is in need of and the volunteer is capable and willing to provide.

Non-medical home helper services including meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, medical reminder, incidental transportation, grooming, companionship, respite care, dementia care, personal care including bathing and toileting.

Offers in-home visits to check in on individuals who are homebound.

Provide in-home services to help seniors and individuals with short- and long-term disabilities stay in their own homes. Some services include:

Services include:

• Friendly companionship and social time.

• Help with a clean, healthy, and safe home.

• Rides to medical appointments within 10 miles.

• Preparation of special diets based on medical instructions.

• Help with personal care, such as bathing and grooming.

• Meal preparation.

• Laundry washing.

• Running errands, such as picking up groceries or supplies.

• Light housecleaning and simple chores.

Provides connection services to county seniors. Offering friendly visits or friendly phone calls.

Foster Grandparents provide service to children with special needs in schools, Head Start or Health facilities. Volunteers who are age 55 and older and meet income guidelines agree to serve a minimum of 10 hours per week and receive a tax-free stipend of $4/hour and other benefits.

Senior Companion Program provides older adults with special needs assistance in their homes. Volunteers who are age 55 and older and meet income guidelines agree to serve a minimum of 10 hours per week and receive a tax-free stipend of $4/hour and other benefits.

Home nursing care including physical, occupational and speech therapy, homemaker services, personal care, case management, setting up and administering medications, monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar, companionship, and waivers services.

Jewish seniors who are home-bound or in nursing homes are visited on a regular basis, and rides are provided to ensure they get to doctors’ appointments, pick up prescription medicine, and/or go grocery shopping.  During Jewish holidays, the Federation provides programming to nursing homes around the area.  Companionship and socialization is a priority with the Senior Program.

Specialty care/Skilled nursing care includes wound care, medication administration, catheter care, etc.

Non-medical care in home to those age 19 and over.

Provides trained members who offer effective listening, response, and referral services to friends and neighbors in need. The program includes education on common mental health and substance abuse disorders and guidance on accessing appropriate help. Additionally, it offers companionship and linkage to services for individuals who are socially isolated, homebound, or otherwise in need of connection, aiming to brighten their day and maintain their contact with the outside world through activities such as reading, talking, listening, and other supportive tasks.

Provides a nutrition program that includes home-delivered and congregate meals that are prepared through the Meal Site located on the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska reservation. The congregate meals are served during the lunch hour Monday-Friday. Home­-delivered meals are delivered to persons in poorer health. In order to receive home­-delivered meals, seniors need to be present for congregate meals two times a week unless health ailments interfere.

Other services that are provided include information/referral, outreach, transportation, homemaker, chore, telephoning, and visiting. The caregiver program provides a temporary period of relief or rest for caregiver of a frail elder in the form of in home respite care, adult day care respite, or respite for an overnight stay on an intermittent, occasional, or emergency basis.

Offers a Lending Closet with medical equipment to be used on a loan basis.
