Collects toys and distributes them to needy families. Children ages 0-16 are eligible.

Toy Drop Site Dates: Last Collection Date is 12/10/2024 (date campaign will complete pickup from toy drop locations). Christmas Dinner boxes are offered to those who have received assistance at the Genoa Food Pantry at least one time during the previous 6 months of the current calendar year. The date of distribution is determined each year, usually set for distribution about a week before Christmas.

For Christmas 2024, pre-register by calling or visiting the pantry before December 1st.

For Thanksgiving 2024, a Thanksgiving Meal is offered. This can be picked up in the month of December with the monthly food pantry pick-up.

For Christmas 2024, the Operation Santa program is offered. Parents can pick out gifts for their children (ages birth-18) if they qualify, at a pop-up shop in December (date to be determined; by appointment only).

Visit the office and fill out an application before the deadline in November (date to be determined); parents will then be pre-approved for a time to come and select gifts for their children. Gift options include new and gently used clothing, games, puzzles, etc. Parents also receive a $50 gift card and $50 voucher for each child.

Thanksgiving Dinner will be provided Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Meals are available for eat-in or delivery by reservation only. Available to Council Bluffs and local Iowa residents.

Reservations are required and must be made by phone between November 1-22, Mon-Fri 9 am-3 pm.

Holiday assistance includes Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas food, and gifts for children through 12 years old. Contact the Taylor County Matura office for more information.

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

Grants special requests to individuals in the Lincoln community.

For Christmas 2024, submit nominations on behalf of friends and family who are in need and/or deserve a special favor. 10 families or individuals will be chosen, and wishes will be granted in December.

Application forms available online only. The deadline is November 15th, 2024.

Provides holiday food assistance to those in need.

Thanksgiving 2025 bonus items will be offered during regular shopping hours to registered clients during the month of November.

Christmas 2025 assistance available with traditional Christmas Meal Box and Christmas Gifts for Kids to registered clients in December. December Blessings registration begins on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Deadline ends on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

To qualify:

If client has used this pantry's services for the last three months and resides in the Waukee School District and has recently provided a proof of residency and identification for each person in their household, they may already be qualified; please complete an online application. If this is the first time applying for assistance or client's information in WayPoint Resources system is not current, client must bring required documents to the WayPoint Resources office during food pantry hours within 10 days of submitting an application.

If client already applied at another agency:

If client has been approved or expects to be approved with another agency for their holiday program, client will be disqualified from this program. This includes, but is not limited to, West Des Moines Human Services, Toys for Tots, Shop with a Cop, Angel Tree Programs and other food or gift giveaway programs.

**Applicants are not qualified for the program until identification for each person, and proof of residency is confirmed.

Once approved, applicants will receive an email confirmation with pick up instructions, including date and time. If applicant has not received an email confirmation, please contact WayPoint Resources at [email protected] or (515) 987-5523. Please bring a photo ID in order to receive dinner boxes and gifts.

If client cannot make the assigned date and time for pick up, another family member or friend can pick up on their behalf. Please call and let WayPoint Resources know who has permission to pick up items, or make other arrangements. If client does not pick up items or make other arrangements for pick-up, their items will be given to families on the waiting list. Failure to pick up may disqualify client's family from future programs.

Four Mile and Pioneer Columbus Recreation Centers will help families sign up for 2024 Toys for Tots during the holiday season. Registration begins Nov. 1, 2024, and goes through Nov 30, 2024. Gift pick-ups are Mon Dec. 16, 2024, from 12 pm- 6 pm; Tue Dec. 17, 2024, from 3 pm-8 pm and Dec. 18, 2024, from 12 pm-6 pm at the center where families register.

Applications accepted November 1-November 27, 2024. Call to register: (712) 328-8122, Mon-Fri 9 am-11 am and 1 pm-3 pm.

Eligibility Requirements: Picture ID; must be a resident of Southwest Iowa; applicants may apply at one agency only. Agencies coordinate lists of applicants to ensure no duplication.

Giving Tree provides Christmas presents for children.

For Christmas 2024, Giving Tree registration forms are available at the pantry starting Mon, Oct 7. Same-day application at the pantry is preferred. Deadline to submit forms is Wed, Nov 20.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Provides gifts and clothing for the Christmas season to children of eligible households in Hancock, Henderson, and McDonough counties.

Empowers low income individuals and families in need with the ingredients to cook a Thanksgiving meal in their own home rather than eating at the Open Door Mission on Thanksgiving Day. This also includes extra groceries to help during the Holiday season when school is out. There will be only 1 Turkey 'N Fixins program per address.

For Thanksgiving 2024:

Beginning November 1st, community members can come to the Timberlake Outreach Center or the Council Bluffs Outreach Center (on the days they are open) and receive a turkey or a ham, along with some other traditional Thanksgiving specific foods as a part of their once a month shopping time. (Only one turkey or one ham per address.)

Program through Nov 27th. Individuals/families can receive Turkey N Fixin's Wednesday-Saturday at the Timberlake Outreach Center, and on Tuesdays only at the Council Bluffs Outreach Center. Individuals/families will need to have a current piece of mail with them when visiting either Outreach Center.

2024 New Visions Holiday Celebration:

Provides holiday gifts for children who have been registered.

Registration begins October 18. Register through email at [email protected] or call (712) 322-7570.

Children must be living with the individual seeking assistance. Must not be registered for any other event, and must have Iowa state ID or proof of residency; children age 14 and under must be present to receive gifts.

Date for 2024 is Saturday, December 14th, from 9 am-4 pm at at the Iowa West Sports Plex (3260 Mid America Drive, Council Bluffs, IA 51501).

2024 Holiday assistance includes Adopt A Child/Family and Christmas Baskets. Baskets are distributed at the Adair County Matura Neighborhood Center. Gifts are for children through 10 years old.

CHRISTMAS BASKETS: To sign up, call Nov 1-Dec 9, 2024. Registrants will be notified when their basket is available.

ADOPT A CHILD/FAMILY: Taking applications Oct 10-Nov 7, 2024. Please call the Adair County office at (641) 743-2424.

Project Santa's Toy and Joy Shop Program empowers low-income parents to have gifts for their children under the tree on Christmas morning, or to celebrate their holiday of choice. Provides 3 -5 new toys for each child, books, school supplies, stocking stuffers, and coloring books. Serves children ages birth to 12.

For Christmas 2024:

To sign up for Project Santa, beginning December 1st through December 21st, community members can visit the Timberlake Outreach Center or Council Bluffs Outreach Center (on the days they are open) and sign up their children (aged newborn to 12 years old) to receive new toys for Christmas. This should be done during visitors' once-a-month shopping time. Please note each child can only be signed up once for this program.

To sign children up for Christmas gifts, applicants must bring:

-- A current piece of mail

-- Social Security cards for each child (ages newborn to 12 years old) to sign up to receive gifts

-- A document verifying the children's ages (such as a birth certificate or Medicaid card)

To Shop for Toys: After sign-up, applicants will be given a confirmation sheet with an appointment day and time to come and shop for toys for the children that were signed up. Applicants will need to bring that confirmation sheet with them when shopping for toys.

The Toy N Joy shop is located on the main campus by the airport in Omaha, and will be open from 10 am-6 pm on December 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st. Children cannot be present at the Toy N Joy shop.
