Thanksgiving Dinner will be provided Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Meals are available for eat-in or delivery by reservation only. Available to Council Bluffs and local Iowa residents.

Reservations are required and must be made by phone between November 1-22, Mon-Fri 9 am-3 pm.

Thanksgiving 2024 bonus items will be offered during regular shopping hours to registered clients during the month of November.

We will offer our traditional Christmas Meal Box and Christmas Gifts for Kids to registered clients in December. Registration began October 1st.

To qualify:
If client has used this pantry's services for the last three months and resides in the Waukee School District and has recently provided a proof of residency and identification for each person in their household, they may already be qualified; please complete an online application. If this is the first time applying for assistance or client's information in WACS's system is not current, client must bring required documents to the WACS office during food pantry hours within 10 days of submitting an application.

If client already applied at another agency:
If client has been approved or expects to be approved with another agency for their holiday program, client will be disqualified from this program. This includes, but is not limited to, West Des Moines Human Services, Toys for Tots, Shop with a Cop, Angel Tree Programs and other food or gift giveaway programs.

**Applicants are not qualified for the program until identification for each person, and proof of residency is confirmed.

Once approved, applicants will receive an email confirmation with pick up instructions, including date and time. If applicant has not received an email confirmation, please contact WACS at [email protected] or (515) 987-5523. Please bring a photo ID in order to receive dinner boxes and gifts.

If client cannot make the assigned date and time for pick up, another family member or friend can pick up on their behalf. Please call and let WACS know who has permission to pick up items, or make other arrangements. If client does not pick up items or make other arrangements for pick-up, their items will be given to families on the waiting list. Failure to pick up may disqualify client's family from future programs.

Offers a Christmas sit down dinner for anyone in need at the church on December 25, 2024 from noon to 2 pm or meal delivery from 11 am-1:30 pm. Individuals and families must call or email to register and live the area of West of Edgewood Road, north of Williams Boulevard, east of Linn-Benton county line and south of F Avenue for delivery.

Dinner will include turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a desert.

Delivered meals will not be left if no one answers the door.

Advocates for people with developmental disabilities and/or intellectual delays and their families, through partnership, leadership, and individual choice; policy advocates raise awareness, increase and improve services and opportunities, and help direct funding into community-based programs.

Annual Christmas Party in December at the Bettendorf Community Center for all special-needs populations.

Scholarships of up to $250 annually for individuals with intellectual delay for leisure activities.

Provides holiday foods shoppers can choose to cook a holiday meal. This is not a food basket or meal.

Groceries will be on a first-come, first served basis, December 16th-21st, 2024. There is no registration required.

Single Moms Christmas Dinner offered 5 pm Dec. 7, 2024 at Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, downtown Des Moines. Includes a catered meal for single mothers and their children. Activities and programming provided for newborns to age 18. Registration is required by December 1, 2024. Visit website or call to register.

Christmas Food Box with a complete family dinner and a toy for children 17 or under.

For Christmas 2024, applicants are encouraged to call or visit their local Salvation Army office for details.

Links people in the Columbus area with local charitable projects.

Coordinates the giving efforts of the Columbus Community, linking the giving projects with the individuals that need assistance with gifts and/or food for Christmas.

For Christmas 2024, all applications are processed digitally. Visit the Columbus Area Holiday Spirit Facebook page to scan a QR code to access the online form and submit an application. Application period begins Oct 16, 2024, and the digital form must be submitted by Nov 15.

Families who are selected to receive holiday gifts or a food basket will be contacted with details regarding the pickup time, date, and location by phone or mail.

Pella Toys for Tots is a program for low income families who need assistance getting toys for their children during Christmas. Toys for Tots is for children under 14 living in Marion County. Sign-ups are taken until all slots are full.

The 2024 Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway is held at the PCM Help Center (6800 P Street, Lincoln) on Saturday, 11/23/24. Giving away 500 Thanksgiving meal baskets to those in need, from 9 am-11 am or until supplies run out.


Free Thanksgiving meal at People's City Mission (110 Q Street, Lincoln). Serving a full Thanksgiving meal to not only all of the homeless in Lincoln, but to anyone who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving and could use a meal. Serving at 11:30 am-1:30 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Expecting to serve around 700 meals.

Santa's Workshop Christmas Toy Giveaway for families in need will be held at the People's City Mission Help Center (6800 P Street, Lincoln) on Saturday, 12/14/24 from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Anticipating to help over 5,000 people, including shelter guests and low-income families who shop at the Help Center. Shoppers will need to have a Clarity card to participate. Clarity cards can be obtained at the Help Center each Tuesday from 9-11 am. No appointment necessary.

This annual holiday event is free for children in foster care, adopted from foster care, kinship placement, relative placement and other children living in the foster household.

Registration is required and will close when full. Please visit website for more information regarding dates and registration forms. Winter Wonderland Holiday Celebration toy distribution Saturday, December 14th, 2024 from 10 am-12 pm and 1 pm-3 pm.

Event held at Hawkeye Downs Expo Hall, 4400 Sixth Street SW in Cedar Rapids. Each child must be registered online via the website, keep an lookout for dates. Register early as this event fills up quickly. To donate to the toy drive, the deadline is Friday, December 8, 2024. Drop off location is 6000 7th St SW in Cedar Rapids.

Distributes shopping bags filled with all the fixings needed for a complete Thanksgiving dinner to families with financial need in the community.

For Thanksgiving 2024, the Meal Bag Giveaway is held on Saturday, November 23rd, from 8 am until supplies run out. The event is located at the FaithWorks Pantry, South Entrance, at FaithWestwood.

Provides one Meal Bag per household. Recipient must be present to receive a bag (no proxies). Bags are given out on a first come-first serve basis, so it is recommended to arrive early.

For Christmas 2024, any child ages 0-15 are eligible to be signed up for Toys for Tots. Until December 4th, interested individuals must call or visit the UWSCNE office to enroll. A simple application must be completed, no documents are required. Distribution times will be communicated once applicant is signed up.

Thanksgiving program provides a food box.

For Thanksgiving 2024, in-person sign-ups are by appointment only. No more requests will be received after Fri, October 25.

Applicants must bring photo ID for all adults in the household, proof of birth date for each child, proof of address (current utility bill, mail, etc), proof of all household income. Applicants must apply at one agency only. (Salvation Army compares applicant lists with other agencies.)
