For Christmas 2024, appointments for CAPWN's Holiday Food and Gift program are taken Tue, October 1st through Wed, November 27th.

THANKSGIVING: Offering meat packages for Thanksgiving. Must sign up in advance to receive a package and to qualify, must have received services from the Bidwell Food Pantry in November, 2024. Only one meat package per household; options include turkey, ham, or chicken hindquarters.

Registration starts Nov. 1, 2024, or until the event is full. Registration is Monday through Friday 10 am- 4 pm. Not eligible if anyone in the household has received a Thanksgiving service from another DMARC pantry. If you receive a ham or chicken hindquarters, you are NOT eligible for a turkey, too. Valid photo ID for an adult must be presented to pick up ham, chicken, or turkey.


CHRISTMAS: A holiday meat package is available from December 11-22, 2024. Available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. No appointment needed. Holiday meat packages will be offered with the standard monthly food package. If you received your monthly food package before December 12, you can come to the pantry December 12-22 to receive the meat package.

To qualify, you must receive a food package from the Bidwell Pantry in December 2024. Not eligible if anyone in household has received a Holiday Service from another DMARC pantry. Only one holiday meat per household. You do not need to live in a specific zip code; residents of all counties are welcome.

Holiday gift program, where donors purchase gifts for families in need. All who register for the program will also receive a food box.

Individuals may also register for a food box only.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Application Response Start Date: 12/08/24 (Date when campaign will begin reviewing and responding to applications).
Application Response End Date: 12/16/24 (Date when campaign will complete reviewing and responding to applications).

Distribution Start Date: 12/16/24 (First date of toy distribution. Approved applicants will be notified of specific distribution dates and locations. Check website for additional distribution details).
Distribution End Date: 12/17/24 (Date when all toy distributions are expected to be completed).

Last Collection Date: 12/12/24 (Date campaign will complete pickup from toy drop locations).

For those who still have toys that need to be picked up, contact Toys for Tots to arrange to either have them picked up, or have them dropped off to the campaign.

Holiday assistance for 2024 includes Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts (for children up to age 18). Baskets are distributed via the Adams County Matura Action Corporation.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS: Applications are taken from Oct 30-November 30, 2024.

Offers a Christmas sit down dinner for anyone in need at the church on December 25, 2024 from noon to 2 pm or meal delivery from 11 am-1:30 pm. Individuals and families must call or email to register and live the area of West of Edgewood Road, north of Williams Boulevard, east of Linn-Benton county line and south of F Avenue for delivery.

Dinner will include turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a desert.

Delivered meals will not be left if no one answers the door.

Registration is required by December 15, 2024 for on-site and delivered meals by calling (319) 396-6361 or emailing [email protected].

Christmas Dinner boxes are offered to those who have received assistance at the Genoa Food Pantry at least one time during the previous 6 months of the current calendar year. The date of distribution is determined each year, usually set for distribution about a week before Christmas.

For Christmas 2024, pre-register by calling or visiting the pantry before December 1st.

Thanksgiving sign-up is Oct 10-Nov 3, 2024. Distribution: Nov 17, 1 pm-5 pm at the American Legion.


Christmas sign-up is Oct 23-Oct 30, 2024 (partnering with CRISP - call CRISP 515-462-9400. Households without children can apply through MATURA until Nov 20, 2024. Distribution is Dec 19 and 20, 2024.

Palo Alto County Outreach may provide holiday food boxes during Thanksgiving 2024 as well, depending on donations.

Limited financial aid for emergency situations including utility deposits, rent, prescription medications, glasses, clothing, school supplies, holiday assistance, transportation, birth certificate retrieval, Iowa identification, books for GED testing, etc.

DONATE CASH OR CHECK: The preferred method for monetary donations is for the individual or business to send a check or money order to the local Toys for Tots Coordinator, made payable to "Toys for Tots" and mailed to: Toys for Tots Coordinator, Marine Corps Reserve Center, Bldg # 47 Dickman Ave., Des Moines IA 50315.

Provides Christmas Dinner 2024 on Sunday December 22, 2024. Dinner go go boxes will be available for walk-up pick up at the front door from 12 pm-1:30 pm , follow the signs for vehicle pick at the side door on Dorgan Place. Delivery service will start at 11 am.
